Job Details
The primary responsibility of theis to protect the Visa from settlement losses by managing and overseeing collateral structures used to mitigate settlement risk exposure. This role ensures that collateral arrangements are appropriately structured, legally enforceable, operationally effective, and continuously monitored in line with Global Credit Settlement Risk (CSR) policies and procedures.
The role acts as a key point of coordination across internal stakeholders and external counterparties to ensure effective collateral risk mitigation while supporting business growth initiatives.
The Buenos Aires based position will report directly to the VP, LAC Head of Credit Settlement Risk. As part of an extended Global Team, the Credit Settlement Risk (CSR) Collateral Manager will also be involved in managing and implementing the Global Credit Settlement Risk Policy.

Essential Functions
Collateral Management & Oversight
- Manage the full lifecycle of collateral arrangements, including setup, maintenance, substitution, release, and execution.
- Oversee multiple forms of collateral, including cash, trust/escrow structures, securities, and guarantees.
- Ensure collateral levels are sufficient to cover current and projected exposure, in accordance with CSR standards.
- Monitor collateral balances versus exposure and proactively identify and address shortfalls.
Operational Execution & Controls
- Oversee collateral documentation review and execution, ensuring required legal agreements are in place and properly maintained
- Coordinate with custodians, banks, trustees, and internal operations teams to implement collateral instructions and validate settlement confirmations.
- Review operational and custodian reports to confirm accuracy and completeness of collateral postings.
- Ensure appropriate record keeping, documentation controls, and audit readiness.
Risk Governance & Policy Compliance
- Ensure collateral arrangements comply with Global CSR policies, procedures, and regional risk frameworks.
- Support collateral related approvals, exceptions, and waivers, including preparation of materials for senior management review.
- Identify structural vulnerabilities or weaknesses in collateral arrangements and recommend remediation actions.
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary CSR point of contact for collateral related matters with internal partners (CSR, Legal, Treasury, Finance, Sales, Operations) and external stakeholders (clients, processors, custodians).
- Support onboarding of new clients, new products, and complex structures requiring customized collateral solutions.
- For dedicated or complex initiatives, act as the day-to-day owner coordinating collateral related activities across multiple teams.
Reporting & Communication
- Prepare and maintain collateral tracking, reporting, and management updates.
- Provide clear, timely communication to CSR leadership regarding collateral risks, issues, and remediation progress.
- Support internal audits, reviews, and governance or regulatory inquiries related to collateral.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications:
6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Risk Management, or a related field.
Proven experience in risk management, collateral management, credit risk, treasury, or financial operations.
Strong understanding of settlement risk, exposure management, and risk mitigation tools.
Experience working with financial institutions, banks, custodians, or trustees.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and control mindset.
Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple stakeholders across regions.
Experience within payment networks, financial infrastructure, or regulated financial environments.
Familiarity with trust, escrow, and guarantee based collateral structures.
Experience operating within regional or global risk frameworks.
Ability to operate independently in a high impact, high visibility role
Be analytical, organized, accurate and detail-oriented with fact-based discipline
Fluent, both written and verbal, in Spanish and English.
Ability and willingness to take initiative on new projects and work well in a team environment
Visa or other payment industry knowledge a plus
