NASCAR seeks a talented professional to join in the position of Research Analyst based in our Charlotte, North Carolina office.

The Research Analyst is responsible for uncovering actionable insights through deep data mining and advanced analytics across NASCAR’s internal and external data ecosystems. This role will serve as a strategic storyteller, transforming complex data from sources such as the NASCAR Data Garage (Snowflake), MCDP, and syndicated data (e.g., Scarborough, Simmons, Nielsen) into compelling Tableau dashboards and executive-ready reports. The Research Analyst will play a key role in identifying emerging trends, fan behaviors, and business opportunities to drive strategic decisions across the organization and its partners.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Perform advanced data mining across multiple databases (Snowflake, MCDP, syndicated data) to uncover trends, correlations, and patterns that inform business strategies.

  • Apply statistical and analytical methods to extract insights on fan engagement, consumer behavior, and brand performance.

  • Conduct cross-platform data integration to develop a unified view of the fan and the broader motorsports landscape.

  • Build repeatable analytical workflows and data pipelines to streamline insight generation.

  • Design and maintain clear, dynamic Tableau dashboards to visualize insights for stakeholders across NASCAR, including teams, tracks, sponsors, and executives.

  • Develop executive-level PowerPoint reports and presentations that synthesize data into compelling narratives.

  • Ensure data storytelling is accessible and actionable for non-technical audiences.

  • Identify new opportunities to deepen understanding of fan sentiment, market segmentation, and engagement trends.

  • Partner with stakeholders to define business questions and translate them into analytical projects and research designs.

  • Leverage fan panel data (e.g., NASCAR Fan Council) and longitudinal studies to measure attitudinal shifts and track sport health.

  • Integrate insights from syndicated sources (Scarborough, Simmons, Nielsen Sports, Experian, etc.) to provide a holistic view of fan behavior and brand affinity.

  • Use syndicated data to benchmark NASCAR’s audience against key competitors and industries.

  • Collaborate closely with the Analytics & Insights, Marketing, and Strategy teams to deliver unified reporting and insight solutions.

  • Act as a trusted data resource for internal business units, helping them define KPIs and measure performance.

  • Support the development of analytical frameworks that guide sponsorship, content, and marketing strategies.

  • Oversee and evaluate third-party research vendors and tools to ensure data accuracy, cost-effectiveness, and methodological rigor.

  • Stay current on data analytics trends, visualization best practices, and emerging tools in audience analytics.

Required skills / experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.

  • 2–5 years of experience in data analysis, technical analytics, or similar role.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, macros)  and Tableau (preferred).

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to translate technical insights into business recommendations.

  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.

  • Collaborative team player with a proactive, curious mindset.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with APIs, automation frameworks, and version control (Git).

  • Experience in fast-paced, data-driven environments such as sports, entertainment, or technology.
