    What is The Role:

    Elastic is building a next-generation corporate newsroom, and we are hiring a Corporate Reporter and Editorial Lead to help develop it.

    This is not a content marketing role. It is an in-house journalism role inside a global communications organization, responsible for finding, reporting, and shaping the stories that define Elastic’s role in AI, security, observability, and the future of data.

    You will operate like a beat reporter embedded inside a technology company: developing sources across engineering, product, research, security, policy, customers, and partners; surfacing stories before they are obvious; and publishing high-credibility, knowledge-first editorial content that shapes how the industry thinks.

    This role blends traditional journalistic instincts with digital-first storytelling. One day, you might be reporting a long-form feature on agentic AI in production environments. Next, you could be driving rapid-response commentary, snackable social explainers, or an executive op-ed tied to breaking industry news.

    This role is based in North America.

    What You Will Be Doing:

    • Story Mining & Rapid Response: Surface and shape high-impact stories from across Elastic, including products, engineering, security research, customers, policy, and culture. Partner closely with the communications team on newsjacking and rapid-response storytelling, helping turn industry moments, product developments, and research into timely, credible narratives that travel.
    • Story Format Experimentation: Continuously experiment with new formats, including short-form video, LinkedIn-native storytelling, newsletters, podcasts, interactive features, and other owned channels to extend the reach and relevance of core reporting.
    • Editorial Planning: Build forward-looking editorial plans aligned with product launches, research, major industry moments, and AI ecosystem events, while remaining agile to respond to the news cycle. You will balance long-term narrative arcs with real-time storytelling, knowing when to hold the plan and when to break it.
    • Editorial Standards & Voice: You will set and uphold a new bar for accuracy, clarity, substance, and narrative flow across all editorial output. This role is grounded in knowledge-first storytelling with authority. It is not demand-generation copy, but high-integrity editorial work designed to earn trust and influence.
    • AI-Forward Editorial Workflow: You will help build an AI-forward editorial workflow using AI tools to accelerate research, assist drafting, multiply formats, and personalize distribution, while maintaining strong human editorial judgment. You will play a key role in designing Elastic’s next-generation editorial engine.

    What You Bring:

    • A deep interest and expertise in tech news and feature writing and have a recent background in journalism with at least 5–7+ years of professional writing and editing experience.
    • Exceptional writing experience with the ability to adapt your style and edit for another person’s voice.
    • Strong copy-editing skills, with a sharp attention to detail, grammar, clarity, and flow.
    • Strong project management skills, with experience building schedules, managing deadlines, and coordinating reviews across stakeholders.
    • Are energized by Elastic’s open-source roots and excited to tell stories about how our community and customers use our technology to solve real-world problems.

    Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary. This role does not have a variable compensation component. The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below.

    These ranges represent the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the ranges may be modified in the future.

    An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

    Elastic believes that employees should have the opportunity to share in the value that we create together for our shareholders. Therefore, in addition to cash compensation, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic's stock program. Our total rewards package also includes a company-matched Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) with dollar-for-dollar matching up to 6% of eligible earnings, along with a range of other benefits offered with a holistic emphasis on employee well-being.

    The typical starting salary range for this role is:

    $98,200—$155,400 CAD
