Job Description

Avery Dennison Reflective Solutions is looking for a shipping & receiving operator to join our manufacturing team at our Painesville, OH location. 

Job description: Primarily support the facility with general logistics support and shipping needs. 8 hour shifts from 8AM-4PM, Monday through Friday.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

Activities and duties may vary depending on specific needs. Essential functions may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Arrange for freight pick-ups and communicate freight status to appropriate contacts.

  • Work with transportation groups and outside carriers to ensure on time delivery and meet customer expectations.

  • Receive materials and equipment to support production and verify receipts in related computer systems.

  • Accurately generate and file all shipping documentation including Bill of Lading, Packing Lists, Customer Sales Orders, Transfer Orders, Vendor Shipment Returns and Parcel Package Documents, Including Export Docs. 

  • Process, close and file receivers.

  • Load and unload trucks to inventory and silos as applicable (e.g. resins, bulk rolls, scrap, packaging materials, cores, end-boards, outdoor drum trucks, Hazardous waste, etc.)

  • Manage packaging recycling program with vendor and customers

  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and adhere to all safety policies

  • Perform all other duties assigned by Supervisor 

  • Accurately generate and file all shipping documentation including Bill of Lading, Packing Lists, Customer Sales Orders, Transfer Orders, Vendor Shipment Returns, Parcel Package Documents, Including Export docs.

  • Process, close and file receivers.

  • Load and unload trucks to inventory and silos as applicable (e.g. resins, bulk rolls, scrap, packaging materials, cores, end-boards, outdoor drum trucks, Hazardous waste, etc.)


Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) or 3+ years of relevant manufacturing work experience.

  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred

  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.

  • Must regard safety as a core value; must serve as role model for other employees and encourage adherence to safety practices, policies and procedures. 

  • Must have strong service and quality focus; address issues effectively when problems arise and take initiative to understand root cause, then communicate/educate the team in a timely manner. 

  • Must be able to actively contribute in a team-based environment; encourage open communication and positive interaction with peers and management to effectively reach a common goal. 

  • Must demonstrate proficiency in essential tasks of the job and a willingness to learn and share knowledge; must take initiative to cross-train and sustain acquired skills. 

  • Must have demonstrated a record of flexibility and dependability in order to support production and customer focus.

  • Must be able and willing to work overtime, including short-notice requests.

  • Must demonstrate proficiency with computer applications, especially strong MFG Pro transactional skills.

  • Previous tow motor experience and ability to become tow motor certified

  • Must be able to complete RCRA, DOT, and Hazardous/Flammable material handling training and continuously demonstrate knowledge and adherence to the requirements and standards. 

  • Excellent computer skills required. Knowledge of basic PC programs. Working knowledge of Google mail and applications is a plus.

  • Experience with transactional functions in mainframe computer systems (e.g. shipping / receiving functions) preferred.

  • Adaptive, flexible, detail oriented and able to handle ambiguity and multi-task across multiple assignments.

  • Motivated towards productivity improvements, safety and quality awareness.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment, with a highly participative teamwork system.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds continuously.
     

Preferred Qualifications:

If you do not meet the preferred qualifications listed below, you may be considered for a temporary position with potential for full-time in the future based on performance and role availability.

  • 3+ years experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Prior experience working off-shift hours

  • Desire to work overtime

  • Safety conscious
