Skills and Competencies
10+ years of experience in UI and full‑stack engineering, with deep expertise in modern front‑end architecture and cross‑platform consistency.
Advanced proficiency in React and/or Angular, TypeScript, and contemporary UI tooling, with the ability to design scalable component frameworks and design‑system foundations.
Strong backend engineering skills with hands‑on experience in Python, Java, or .NET services.
Experience delivering full‑stack solutions that integrate performant UIs with reliable backend APIs and cloud-native services.
Expertise in performance optimization, state management, rendering efficiency, and frontend scalability patterns.
Strong understanding of accessibility best practices, component composition, UI security, and responsive design principles.
Experience collaborating closely with UX, platform engineering, and cross‑functional squads to drive unified user experiences.
Proven ability to establish and enforce UI engineering standards, patterns, and reusable frameworks across teams.
AWS cloud experience, including front‑end build/deployment workflows and cloud‑integrated UI solutions (preferred).
Experience mentoring engineers, conducting architectural reviews, and shaping front‑end engineering culture.
Knowledge of micro‑frontends, component libraries, Storybook, and design‑system operations (nice to have).
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline—or equivalent professional experience.
Responsibilities
Lead the architectural direction for UI systems, design‑system evolution, and scalable front‑end frameworks across products.
Build and maintain reusable design‑system components, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and reliability across the application ecosystem.
Deliver full‑stack solutions by integrating modern UI technologies (React/Angular) with backend services in Python, Java, or .NET.
Drive performance improvements through optimized rendering, state management strategies, and efficient data flows.
Collaborate with UX teams to harmonize visual and interaction patterns, ensuring a cohesive multi‑platform user experience.
Influence and define UI best practices, coding standards, and long‑term UI architecture aligned with platform strategy.
Lead and support modernization efforts by evolving legacy UI components into modern, cloud‑ready frameworks.
Improve developer experience through tooling, productivity enhancements, reusable libraries, and standardized pipelines.
Mentor UI and full‑stack engineers, conduct code and architecture reviews, and elevate the technical quality bar across squads.
Guide cross‑team decision‑making on UI technology choices, design‑system adoption, and frontend architectural patterns.
About the team
The Staff UI / Full Stack Engineer leads front-end architecture, design-system evolution, and cross-product consistency. This role sets the direction for performance, accessibility, and component composition while bridging UI and backend services to deliver cohesive experiences.
Partnering with UX and platform teams, the Staff Engineer defines best practices, improves developer experience, and aligns UI patterns with long-term platform strategy for Moody’s Casualty and Financial Lines.
