Description

NBFI is a younger segment within CCB with immense growth opportunity. The Global & NAM NFBI Head will be responsible for turbo charging CCB’s growth strategy in the industry with a focus on increasing our market share and market presence whilst working with partners across Citi to develop innovative industry solutions. This role will have direct management of the NAM team while also ensuring connectivity and productivity globally. A core part of the role will be to develop talent and ensure bankers have the tools and knowledge to deliver the power of Citi for clients. They will also be responsible for the industry financials and management of our risk appetite and controls inherent in the portfolio and to ensure a strong returns discipline.

The Industry Head will need to demonstrate a strong understanding of the industry including emerging business and disruptor models as well as current and new competition. It requires collaboration and close partnership with senior leadership within CCB as well as key partners within Banking, across products and other Citi businesses.

This role requires a leader acknowledged by the market, clients and within Citi as an expert on the industry.

This role will report directly to the NAM Cluster Head and matrix to the Global Head of Coverage. The NAM NBFI team will directly report into this role and other cluster / country NBFI Heads will matrix report to the Global & NAM NBFI Head in addition to their Cluster / country reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy:

  • Size global growth opportunity and develop a strategy to capture it
  • Identify emerging trends including disruptors / new sub-sectors
  • Optimize resource allocation aligned with NAM and Global strategy
  • Be visible as an Industry leader in the market and internally

Business Development & Sales Management:

  • Drive innovation including development and commercialization of industry specific solutions in partnership with products / regions / countries and leveraging digital tools and platforms
  • Collaborate with product and risk partners to ensure we deliver One Citi to our clients. Own, respond to, uncover and anticipate future needs, roadblocks or risks and expectations
  • Drive industry thought leadership externally and internally and drive presence in industry
  • Coordinate industry webinars / client events / external marketing • Own, respond to, uncover and anticipate future needs, roadblocks or risks and expectations;
  • Establish and lead robust sales management processes for pipeline management, new client acquisition, client penetration and share of wallet
  • Be responsible for Industry Financials including returns (RoRC / RoTCE)

Risk Management:

  • Establish risk appetite for industry and subsectors, including target market definition and risk framework
  • Responsibility for quality of the credit portfolio, origination in line with Target Market, prompt problem recognition
  • Lead Industry portfolio reviews, understand emerging industry trends and impact to CCB portfolio, work with CLM and Risk to develop risk mitigation strategies

Talent:

  • Recruit, build out, and retain a best-in-class commercial banking team
  • Manage, and motivate the team, ensuring an aligned organizational model, scorecards and KPIs to monitor business performance. Directly manage the NAM team
  • Talent development, coaching and counselling of staff to provide stretch targets and fulfilling assignments
  • Build industry expertise and skills within the industry team and ensure deep understanding of relevant products and solutions
  • Foster Global and NAM connectivity for best practice sharing

Knowledge / Experience

  • 15+ years of commercial/corporate banking experience with demonstrated industry expertise
  • In-depth knowledge of all aspects of commercial/corporate banking products including cash management, derivatives, syndicated and bilateral loans, capital markets issuances, trade, etc.
  • Significant experience with credit decision making authority, with experience in complex capital structures and cross border transactions
  • Multi-year experience pitching and executing capital markets solutions, including joint calling with investment bankers as well as independently is desired
  • Possesses sound judgment and is creative in providing structured solutions to bank clients
  • Business builder capable of creating vision and motivating the team
  • Minimum intermediate level credit skills with the capability to demonstrate advanced level credit skills to be appointed a senior credit officer

  • Proven leadership ability with excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to quickly adapt priorities based on the latest data insights
  • Excellent client interaction and management skills • High level of personal integrity
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix-environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master's/MBA degree preferred from a top economics, business, or financial engineering program
  • Senior Credit Officer or Senior Credit Officer candidate.
  • Licenses: S24, S79, S63 and SIE
