Job Summary:
In Systems Integration and Test (SI&T) we integrate, verify, and validate our products. We put our systems together, exercise them in the lab or in the field, measure and analyze performance, and make sure our products work the first time and every time. To accomplish this we develop plans and procedures, debug and evaluate system functions and interfaces, develop test environments, and work hand-in-hand with our customers.
Our Hardware in the Loop Department within our Environments team in Tucson, Arizona is looking for Mechanical Engineering students to support our team as an intern. In this role, you’ll be challenged to design, build, and integrate state-of-the-art test environments as part of our multi-disciplined team. You’ll work with weapon system designers to understand requirements, design solutions, integrate, and deploy the systems to help support tactical software development, testing, and delivery for missiles to the warfighter.
This position is an onsite role.
This position can be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Post Graduate Technical Intern based on the candidate's qualifications and standing as outlined below:
- (Sophomore Technical Intern) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program and classified as a Sophomore by start of internship and provide proof of graduation prior to first day of employment
- (Junior Technical Intern) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program and classified as a Junior by start of internship and provide proof of graduation prior to first day of employment
- (Senior Technical Intern)- must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program and classified as a Senior by start of internship and provide proof of graduation prior to first day of employment
- (Post-Graduate Technical Intern) - must have an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a graduate degree program (in degree fields listed in Qualifications You Must Have) by start of internship.
Qualifications You Must Have
- This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor’s (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering degree program and will be at minimum, entering their Sophomore year by the start of summer 2025
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Academic or internship experience that included hands-on testing of electronic equipment
- Experience with troubleshooting technical issues with electronics in an academic or internship setting, including the use of common commercial test equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, etc)
- Experience with a drafting tool such as Autocad, CREO, or similar
Qualifications We Prefer
- Prior Internship experience in an engineering role supporting electrical engineering design, and using analysis tools such as: Altium, DX Designer, Mentor Capital, Creo Schematic, Xilinx Vivado, or equivalent
- Experience using schematic capture tools and interpreting schematics and/or performing advanced FPGA firmware development (VHDL or Verilog)
- Experience designing, testing, and integrating digital, mixed signal, and electrical system interconnects

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
