Job Purpose
We are looking for a highly motivated senior accountant to perform and support accounting duties within our organization. The senior accountant's responsibilities include performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, assisting with audit preparations, preparing financial reports, and performing other accounting duties as assigned. The work involved is related to the overall operations of both the EnerSys Delaware and Regional Accounting functions.
To be successful as a senior accountant, you must have the ability to assume ownership of various processes and reports, have a solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and strong financial analysis skills. An outstanding senior accountant should also possess excellent Excel skills, embrace new challenges, be detail-oriented, highly organized, able to work with little to no supervision, and perform under pressure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare and record complex monthly journal entries in relation to month end close.
- Prepare Balance Sheet account reconciliations, and assist with forecasting expenses in assigned accounts, where applicable.
- Communicate, escalate, and coordinate with plant accountants, segment leads, functional department heads and third-party service providers to obtain and/or transmit information needed for analysis, forecast, journals and reconciliations.
- Enter, revise, sort, calculate and create tables for analysis on high priority accounts, and quarter/year-end packages.
- Acquire an understanding of transactional flows within the business process related to assigned general ledger accounts.
- Maintain internal control compliance, identify control weaknesses, and support internal and external audit requests.
- Suggest process improvements to ensure that effective controls are maintained over the financial accounting and reporting for the region.
- Create and/or update detailed process documentation, ensuring accounting implications of processes are clearly understood.
- Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
- Effectively communicate with and act as a mentor to staff accountants.
- Act as a point of contact for general accounting questions from dependent accounting services.
- Prepare special projects, ad hoc requests, and other analysis as assigned by management.
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment when dealing with critical and confidential matters within the Americas Finance Department.
Travel may be required for special assignments and quarterly accounting reviews. Estimate: 0-5%
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required, CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in an accounting role (preferably publicly traded company or Big 4).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requirements.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
- Ability to communicate (orally and written) in a professional manner when dealing with employees and management both inside and outside the finance department.
- Ability to critically think and solve problems that deal with a variety of variables.
- Ability to learn new processes and systems quickly.
- Familiarity with financial accounting statements.
- Motivated self-starter, and team player.
- Make recommendations on process improvements.
- Must be highly organized, and accurate with a strong attention to detail.
- Excellent computer skills, intermediate or advanced Excel skills.
- Knowledge of intercompany transactions and recharges a plus.
