We are seeking a highly motivated histology Senior Scientist who will design, execute, and communicate novel multi-disciplinary research in a highly collaborative Neuroscience research team. Primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will be to apply cutting-edge histological and imaging techniques to advance our Migraine and Pain programs. This effort will support the identification and development of novel therapeutics.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Guide the use of histological techniques, and interacting with project teams to advance programs based on data
- High proficiency in tissue processing/sectioning from the spinal cord, brain, trigeminal ganglia, and dorsal root ganglia, tissue staining, as well as imaging and image analysis
- Multiplexed immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization to evaluate mechanistic action of test compounds and to validate new targets (maybe be human or animal-based tissue)
- Provide written and verbal communication of work in lab reports and team meetings
- Introducing and establishing cutting edge techniques and analyses
- Adaptable, creative, and think quantitatively
- The successful candidate will be responsible for being an active contributor to Migraine/Pain-related programs in an exciting, fast-paced team environment
Qualifications
- Minimum requirement is a Bachelor’s degree or similar in Neuroscience, Biology or other relevant natural sciences
- Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years, or Master’s degree with 8+ years of relevant Histological experience
- Ability to independently generate precise, reliable and reproducible histological data in a timely manner. Be able to interpret and effectively communicate results of these studies.
- Hands-on experience in the laboratory working with diverse neurological and non-neurological tissue from rodent, NHP, and human samples is essential
- Experience with spinal cord, trigeminal ganglia, and dorsal root ganglia samples will be prioritized
- A background in behavioral and other cellular techniques would be an asset
- The individual must be able to read and adapt scientific literature to advance techniques and innovative approaches
- Ability to contribute independently, but also integrate well into a team to work across multiple scientific disciplines and functions
- Desire to take on additional responsibilities to progress career
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative scientific environment with strong communication skills
- Experience in drug discovery would be highly desirable
