Team/Role Overview

The Communications Specialist  is an experienced professional within Citi’s Enterprise Services and Public Affairs (ESPA) function, with a broad range of responsibilities, from helping protect and manage Citi's reputation, supporting executive communications, public engagements, media and third-party engagement to internal communications, community development and event management.

What you'll do:

The Communications Specialist will report to the Public Affairs Officer (PAO) in Hungary and will be responsible for supporting the execution of a comprehensive communications strategy for both internal and external stakeholders.

Communication Strategy & Execution

  • Support the PAO in planning and executing communication and public affairs activities in the local market, in support of Citi's business objectives and in alignment with global messaging and company policies.
  • Develop and deliver messaging across the franchise with consistency, clarity, and the appropriate tone of voice.
  • Implement and monitor execution of communication campaigns year-round using various channels.
  • Help the PAO to enhance and protect Citi's reputation and brand through direct and indirect communication with all stakeholders.

Internal Communications and Employee Engagement:

  • Develop and execute internal engagement plans and initiatives, delivering regular communications to employees in Hungary.
  • Liaise with the relevant internal stakeholders to plan and manage internal communications channels and content calendars, including newsletters and intranet.
  • Plan and manage a very active community affairs program with internal and external partners in Hungary, including developing ideas for new initiatives and creating content.

External Communications:

  • Support media engagement activities (relationship building, press releases, media pitches, monitor media coverage and relevant news angles, trends and events).
  • Strengthen and communicate Citi's employer brand within the Hungarian market.
  • Develop briefing documents and speaking notes for senior executives for external engagements.
  • Assist the preparation and organization of client and external events.

Administrative Tasks: Manage the necessary administrative tasks (contracts, invoices, payments, etc.) to be compliant with all Citi policies.

What we'll need from you:

  • 3-5 years of experience in corporate communications, ideally in the financial sector or a complex multinational organization.
  • Experience in content creation for internal and external purposes.
  • Experience in both communications and event management.
  • Good networking and public relations skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of a wide variety of media channels.
  • Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience in business management, communications, marketing, or another related field.
  • Excellent English and Hungarian communication skills, both verbal and written, with versatile writing ability (news features, business letters, speeches, briefs).
  • Proficiency in MS 365 suite, Excel, and PowerPoint, and ability to create engaging presentations. Social media content development experience and working knowledge of major social media platforms.
  •  Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, including event management and content creation skills. Extremely organized and thorough with an eye for detail.
  •  Ability to prioritize and manage multiple communication projects and tasks with varying deadlines and levels of urgency, while effectively managing diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent relationship management skills, can-do attitude, proactivity, and willingness to learn.
