Responsibilities

The Director of Strategic Communications will directly support a broad spectrum of stakeholders for the Moody’s Analytics Data Estate, including the Chief Data Officer, heads of software engineering, product, strategy, governance, and risk. This position is responsible for designing, coordinating, and executing comprehensive internal communications campaigns and supporting external facing communications, including marketing and sales. The Director collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop and deliver clear, consistent, authoritative, and audience-specific communications, ensuring that messaging and timelines are aligned with the Chief Data Officer’s software development lifecycle, data enhancements, product launches, and go-to-market initiatives.

This role enables teams to better understand organizational priorities, initiatives, and outcomes, ultimately supporting informed decision-making and operational excellence.

  • Serve as the accountable owner of internal communications for Moody’s Analytics Data Estate, developing, coordinating, and maintaining a single, authoritative source for messaging, timelines, and campaign documentation across all domains
  • Directly support the Chief Data Officer to distill complex information into impactful messaging and create presentation materials for executive, workforce, and external audiences, effectively communicating strategy, operational progress, client impact, and shareholder value enhancement
  • Design and implement communications strategies and timelines aligned with the SDLC, data enhancements, product launches, and go-to-market initiatives, ensuring key messages are delivered at appropriate stages of project and product development
  • Tailor messages, talking points and presentation materials for a wide range of audiences, including the Moody’s board, senior executive leadership, and senior managers from operations, product, strategy, technology, marketing, risk and sales
  • Closely support the Sales function by developing and maintaining authoritative, up-to-date communications resources that empower sellers with accurate information about Moody’s data offerings, product differentiators, and value propositions
  • Create and deliver client- or pursuit-specific content for the Sales team, including tailored messaging for individual clients, responses to RFIs and RFPs, materials for bakeoffs, and deep-dive presentations addressing unique customer requirements, objections, or upsell opportunities
  • Develop artifacts (e.g., decks, brochures, infographics) and talking points to support sales engagements with existing customers, especially for situations involving service dissatisfaction or renewal/expansion discussions, ensuring communications are responsive, transparent, and customer-centric
  • Partner with technical teams by providing detailed communications requirements during the gathering phase for reporting dashboards, and actively participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure dashboards deliver the information needed for effective internal and external communications
  • Lead and coach junior communications staff, providing guidance on best practices, campaign execution, and document creation, while serving as an individual contributor and team lead (without direct managerial responsibilities)
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to synthesize information from varied documentation, translating complex topics into accessible and actionable communications
  • Develop and execute internal communications campaigns, including the creation of PowerPoint decks, brochures, newsletters, and other materials, ensuring clarity and consistency across all outputs
  • Establish standards and guidelines for message development, publishing, and review, ensuring communications are structurally accurate, aligned with enterprise priorities, and scalable for future needs
  • Provide guidance to business partners on effective communication strategies, identifying gaps in existing messaging and designing new approaches to support application interfaces, workflows, and usage reporting
  • Ensure communications are AI-ready and interoperable, supporting advanced tools and platforms for message delivery, content generation, and stakeholder engagement
  • Proactively identify and resolve conceptual conflicts in messaging among domains, products, and legacy systems, communicating changes and their rationale to all relevant stakeholders
  • Build strong and collaborative relationships with business partners, helping to identify gaps in communications and designing new strategies to support evolving business needs

About the team

The Moody’s Data Governance team operates as a central capability within the Data Estate, focused on ensuring data is fit for purpose, trusted, and aligned to customer use cases across Moody’s Analytics.
