The ideal candidate will set and drive strategy for a broad set of technical initiatives and be empowered to make decisions that significantly impact annual operating plans (AOP), long-range strategic plan (LRSP) outcomes, and the Technology Roadmap. The Northrop Grumman Fellow is expected to provide scientific, technical, intellectual leadership, as well as analytical support contributing to the advancement of growth goals. The candidate must also have a strong grasp of campaign execution, networking strategy, and possess the skills, drive, and judgement to successfully interface with senior leaders/technologists across the company and customer community.
Northrop Grumman Missions Systems Sector Maritime/Land Systems & Sensors Division is seeking an NG Fellow 1 with an expertise in high power turbine generator, propulsion motor, and electromagnetic/electromechanical devices who will play an instrumental role in developing, evolving, and leading technological strategy in this skill area for the broader organization. As the recognized leader in this technical domain, you will join Engineering, Program and Business Development leaders in architecting, developing, maturing, and integrating breakthrough technology solutions for new development/production opportunities.
The position is full time, on-site based in Sunnyvale, CA.
General responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Create technology Roadmaps to inform Northrop Grumman’s strategy, shape future program pursuits and assist in developing technical differentiating Mission capabilities.

Conduct complex analyses to develop operational and system capabilities which achieve desired mission effects. Solutions may be developed under conditions of uncertainty or where little precedent exists.

Provide inputs in proposal development for technology and products

Serve as a primary domain expert in support of key business functions, identifying and quantifying capability gaps, focusing attention on technical solutions to meet future needs and inform requirements

Coordinate portfolio to help optimize Sector/Division investment (i.e. IR&D approach, program/project tracking, cost, scalability, documentation, reporting, etc).

Develop customer relationships, interface with key stakeholders, and support development of new business or expand our technology credibility.

Involvement in attracting and capturing new business
-
Participate in customer, industry, and/or academic, advisory boards or consortiums.

Work closely with the Sector/Division Leaders to define technical solutions aligned to customers’ strategies and requirements.

Champion company values, including safety, best practices, and continuous improvement.

Aid personnel technical development through leadership, team building, mentorship, and shared knowledge.
Specific Technology Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
High power turbine generator, propulsion motor, and electromagnetic/electromechanical devices.

Our MLSS Division serves production customers within DoD and internationally. The successful candidate will have demonstrated abilities to lead technical development of prototype through production maritime systems and major sub-assemblies from design through system fielding.

Mentor, guide, and oversee teams of members of the technical staff as they work to realize these systems.

Basic Qualifications
:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 20+ years of engineering experience OR Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 18+ years of engineering experience OR PhD in a STEM discipline and 15+ years of engineering experience
- Experience creating and driving technology roadmaps across an organization in marine propulsion and power generation products that resulted in new product or business opportunities.
- Experience as a technical leader to multi-disciplinary teams across different program lifecycle phases
- 8+ years of demonstrated success leading teams/and or technical solutions.
- US Citizenship
- Active Secret or Top-Secret Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
:
- 10+ years of experience developing technical solutions and strategies in AC generator and motor design, power conversion electronics, magnetic actuators, magnetic bearings, and the control of these devices
- Nuclear Navy customer interface experience
- Knowledge of design for naval nuclear platforms (submarines, aircraft carriers)
- Experience with product line management and product line engineering
- Demonstrated success in creating and executing affordability initiatives
- Advanced degrees in STEM related technical field
- Top-Secret Security clearance
Salary Range: $207,100 - $310,700
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
