Introduction to the Team
Our Corporate Functions are made up of teams that support Expedia Group, including Employee Communications, Finance, Traveler and Partner Service Platform, Legal, People Team, Inclusion and Diversity, and Global Social Impact and Sustainability.
We are looking for a hands-on and strategic statutory Accounting Manager to lead our statutory compliance team in our Brazilian office. This role combines deep technical expertise with leadership responsibility. You will own the statutory reporting process end-to-end, act as the key point of contact for auditors and advisors, and drive process excellence across the region while leading and developing a high-performing team.
In this role, you will:
Lead and mentor a team of statutory accountants, fostering accountability, technical excellence, and continuous development
Act as the owner of statutory accounting compliance for multiple Americas and APAC legal entities
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (Finance, Tax, Legal, Corporate Accounting, and external advisors) to ensure alignment and timely delivery
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, automation opportunities, and standardization of global accounting processes
Support strategic initiatives such as entity rationalization, mergers, acquisitions, and company dissolutions
Oversee and review the preparation of statutory financial statements and audit files under local GAAP requirements
Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, managing timelines, coordinating data collection, and resolving audit matters
Ensure high-quality documentation and technical position papers where required
Collaborate closely with the International Tax team on corporate tax matters impacting entities within scope
Oversee journal entries and account reconciliations across entities, reviewing monthly P&L and Balance Sheets prior to close
Ensure appropriate review and challenge of financial results, proactively identifying risks, errors, or unusual fluctuations
Manage relationships with outsourced bookkeeping providers, ensuring compliance with local GAAP and statutory requirements
Experience and Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience
Proven experience in statutory reporting across multiple jurisdictions
Demonstrated leadership experience (formal or informal), including coaching or supervising team members
Strong understanding of local GAAP and corporate tax fundamentals
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Proficient stakeholder management and communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical matters clearly
Fluency in English (written and spoken), as this role involves daily interaction with local partners and global teams, as well as work within English‑language tools and documentation.
Preferred:
ACA, CPA, or equivalent qualification
Big 4 Public Accounting background
Spanish language proficiency
Experience operating effectively in a fast-paced, multinational, high-growth environment
