Job Description

Conceives, designs, conducts, and leads advanced independent or multidisciplinary research and development for major process or product design improvement.  Develops and implements processes and programs to optimize or achieve the plant efficiency program, product quality control, cost control, customer specification or product design changes.  Working with little or no supervision, applies project management knowledge, engineering knowledge and ingenuity to complete projects from concept thru project closure within or across disciplines.

Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualizes and implements novel approaches using combinations of engineering scientific principles.
  • Investigates, develops, and recommends alternatives for design, procurement, work with integrators/vendors, and installation of new equipment or systems for the optimal utilization and control of resources.
  • Designs and coordinates experiments to test hypothesis related to project outcomes; extracts the full relevance of scientific observations while assuring experimental quality through sound experimental design.
  • Implements new technical alternatives for research from literature review, industry knowledge, and extensive development experience.
  • Applies advanced technical writing skills to produce reports and document; write independently; evaluates the writing of others. Utilizes numerous analytical instruments, trains others in their operation.
  • Compiles and evaluates design and test data, prepares technical specifications, and determines appropriate limits and variables for product, process, or materials specifications.
  • Conducts qualification and validation studies for manufacturing processes, equipment, utilities, and cleaning validation.
  • Work in a clean room environment.
  • Champions new technologies demonstrate applicability departments/business units
  • Reviews and critiques presentations for others. Consistently and effectively presents complex technical data to large and diverse groups. Trains and develops others using a variety of techniques.  Generates new product ideas consistent with company goals.
  • Leads project cross functional teams. Maintains and develops broad external and internal contacts to maintain technical knowledge as required to accomplish strategic needs of the business

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Science, or closely related discipline is desired, or equivalent technical experience plus demonstrated competence, with a desired 5+ years of significant engineering and/or operational experience.  A post-graduate education/degree is desired, and may contribute towards the desired years of experience.
  • Has demonstrated competency within a discipline.
  • Possesses a strong technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices, and procedures.  Works on problems of complex scope where analysis of situations or data involves multiple competing factors.  Demonstrates judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Interacts well with diverse groups within engineering and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators. Listens to and understands others' points of view and articulates tactfully and respectfully one's own perspective orally, in writing, and in presentations.
  • Possesses interpersonal skills to negotiate and reconcile differences in a fast paced, goal driven environment.
  • Industry experience exposure to FDA, GMP, 21CFR11, Data Integrity, Safety and Environmental legislation.
  • Ability to provide technical program leadership, including external vendor management and lead cross-functional teams including internal and external resources.
  • Experience with robot and cobot is a plus.
