Markets Apprentice | BSc Financial Technology

Programme overview

You’re the brains behind our work.

You’re ready to bring your knowledge from the classroom to the boardroom and Citi wants to help you get there. Whether it’s honing your skills or building your network, we know that success can’t come without growth. Our programmes equip you with the knowledge and training you need to play a valuable role on your team and establish a long-term career here. At Citi, we value internal mobility and career growth is not a question of if, but when.

You will work on a range of activities to support the day to day running of our global Markets business.  You will be part of managing risk and executing controls in a fast-paced business. You’ll work alongside subject matter experts looking for opportunities to enhance processes leveraging technology to automate activities.

Programme description

We provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to succeed.

We’re committed to teaching you the ropes and then some. During the programme, you will study for a BSc (Hons) Financial Technology Apprenticeship qualification. Aside from your peer group and manager, you will have a buddy and a dedicated programme manager. You will have access to first class technical and business training from well-established team, plus Citi’s online training portal.

Side by side job shadowing and coaching with your team will be combined with the opportunity to work with counterparts in one of the world’s largest investment banks. You will gain valuable insight into the workings of a large global, financial Markets business. You will have exposure to a range of sales and trading activities and work with new and cutting-edge technologies.

Your Day will look something like this…

Assignments change each year based on the business needs of the teams.  Below are some examples:

  • Data analysis – using business knowledge to assist with data analysis, identifying patterns and areas for investigation.

  • Control Execution – running controls to ensure the smooth operation of sales and trading activity.

  • Collaboration – meeting with colleagues discussing challenges and coming up with solutions

  • Organisational and operational efficiency improvements - Nobody likes to repeat the same actions every day and click the same buttons, so our apprentices get involved in efficiency improvements to see where tasks can be automated or streamlined to free their time to get involved in exciting projects!

Qualifications

We want to hear from you if…

  • You have 5 GCSEs including Math with a minimum grade C (or equivalent) and English Language with a minimum grade C (or equivalent)

  • You have A level grades BCC including A level Math (or equivalent) or A level grades BBC without A level Math (or equivalent)

  • You may also meet the course entry requirements with combinations of different qualifications to the same standard (provided subject requirements are met).
