Job Description

Purpose

This position oversees the consolidation of actuals and other HQ activities for AbbVie Operations.  The team coordinates the monthly close calendar and consolidates the P&L, balance sheet, and specified charges.  Additionally, the role oversees manufacturing variance deferral accounting for the U.S., including related financial planning activities.  This position is the Operations business lead for BPC and represents Operations on the Finance Master Data Council.  Lastly, the position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the financial statements and staff development.  This is a highly-visible role with direct exposure to and interaction with the Vice President, Controller, Operations.  

Responsibilities

•Oversee consolidations and monthly actuals reporting for the P&L, balance sheet and specified charges 

•Manage the manufacturing variance deferral accounting for the U.S., including related financial planning activities 

•BPC – Business lead for system, ensuring system performance and performing related troubleshooting activities 

•Master data – Represents Operations on the Finance Master Data Council ensuring Operations’ needs and point-of-view are represented in policy and projects 

•Accounting – First-line resource for Operations Finance teams on accounting related questions, including consultations for new contracts and audit support for sites 

•Decision Support / Special Projects -- Provide analyses for ad hoc or other business presentations that lend insight into key business drivers enabling operating management to adapt more appropriate tactics / strategy to meet LRP objectives 

•Financial statement accuracy – Ensure accurate monthly reporting associated with functional strategic projects 

•Staff Development – Responsible for delegating to and coaching a staff of employees to ensure an optimal level of support to the business and provide coaching and career development opportunities to sustain a high performing staff 

•Individual is expected to successfully perform all responsibilities with a high degree of self-motivation and autonomy 


Qualifications

Qualifications

•Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA and/or advanced degree a plus. Strong accounting skills are required, as well as solid understanding of AbbVie's accounting policies. 

•Strong understanding of AbbVie financial systems, including SAP S/4HANA and BPC 

•Experience in a complex global organization. Pharmaceutical sector experience a plus but not required. 

•12+ years of progressive Accounting or Finance with 5+ years of management experience. 

•Demonstrated project management skills and experience, which includes project leadership in organizing, planning and executing projects from vision through implementation, across multiple internal and external reporting and organizational lines. 

•Strong analytical skills – able to synergize data into information to make decisions, able to make recommendations and proposals. 

•Demonstrated ability working in a matrix organization, building strong partnerships, and accessing available resources. 

•High personal integrity, energy and objectivity. 

•Process focused with experience in implementing process improvements or other change management initiatives. 

•Ability for managing multiple priorities in a dynamic and challenging environment. 

•Experience in coaching and career development.
