About the team

Watch this video to learn more about Zillow

At Zillow, we’re reimagining real estate to make it easier for people to unlock life’s next chapter, whether they’re renting, buying, or selling. Zillow Rentals is a critical and fast-growing part of that vision, transforming renting from a high-friction, disconnected process into a trusted, seamless, AI-powered journey from first search to move-in and beyond. This is a high-priority area for Zillow with significant investment, strong momentum, and a clear path to scale, including being on track to reach our first $1B in annual revenue.

To support this growth, we are building a new Business Operations function within Rentals that partners closely with the SVP / Head of Zillow Rentals. This role reports to the Head of Business Operations and is part of a small, high-impact team that operates at the center of the business—partnering with senior leaders to translate strategy into execution, drive operational rigor, and lead cross-functional initiatives as the business scales.

About the role

We are seeking a Director of Strategy & Business Operations to help drive the next phase of growth in Zillow Rentals. This strategy and operations role sits at the intersection of strategy, execution, and operations and is highly visible across the Rentals business.

You will partner closely with leaders across Rentals to translate priorities into execution, solve complex business problems, and ensure the organization operates effectively against its goals. You’ll lead high-priority, cross-functional initiatives, run core operating rhythms (such as monthly business reviews and annual planning), and bring structure and clarity to ambiguous work so teams stay aligned and deliver results.

This role requires someone who can move fluidly between strategy and execution. You are a resourceful operator who can influence without direct authority, bring structure to complex problems, and drive work through to completion with a bias toward action.

You Will Get To:

  • Own and lead core operating rhythms (such as monthly business reviews and annual or long-range planning) to drive clear insights, accountability, and decisions across Zillow Rentals.

  • Establish consistent, scalable ways to track performance, identify and escalate issues, and set and manage priorities across the Rentals portfolio, enabling data-driven decisions.

  • Own and drive high-priority initiatives that span multiple teams, ensuring strong coordination, clear accountability, and on-time delivery.

  • Operate across diverse problem types (for example, analytics, sales, and product), from shaping or refining strategy when it is unclear to leading execution and program management.

  • Step into ambiguous or under-owned areas—such as new business models or cross-portfolio initiatives—to define the approach, align stakeholders, and execute end-to-end.

  • Lead key aspects of M&A and partner integration efforts where needed, from initial planning through cross-functional alignment and successful execution.

  • Identify, propose, and implement improvements to how the business scales through stronger processes, cross-functional alignment, and consistent execution.

  • Partner with functional leaders to identify and deliver on efficiency and cost opportunities, and lead change management so teams can adopt new ways of working as the business grows.

Who you are

  • 8+ years of experience in strategy, business operations, consulting, or a related field, with a track record of leading cross-functional initiatives in complex environments.

  • Proven ability to influence and align senior stakeholders across functions and drive accountability and results without direct authority.

  • A strong operator who moves fluidly between strategy and execution, taking work from early concept to polished delivery with solid program and project management skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and business judgment, including comfort working with data, operating in ambiguity, and bringing structure to complex problems.

  • A clear, concise communicator who can synthesize complex topics and drive alignment across technical and non-technical audiences.
