Job Details

The Business Unit Group Manager is a senior-level position responsible for the overall financial management and related activities of a complex and growing business. These tasks may include managing external audits, business continuity activities or addressing regulatory issues. The Business Unit Group Manager will coordinate and manage business financials, employee headcount and other administrative needs and ad hoc projects as necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage financial control by applying a comprehensive understanding of the department Profit & Loss (P&L), including appropriate accruals, client allocations, the impact of capitalization, recovery and fixed price contracts in order to improve operational efficiency and productivity
  • Support the development and execution of long-term plans aligned with Citi-wide strategies (Location Strategy, Organizational Simplification etc.)

  • Have a thorough understanding of an ensure alignment between Green and Blue Budgets in partnership with internal clients and financial partners.
  • A strong manager who can effectively manage a remote team responsible for various aspects of financial management and reporting
  • Develop and implement operational efficiencies, automated reporting, dashboards and tools that support effective and efficient communications on the status of the financials as proactively identify risks and opportunities to ensure optimized financial management
  • Drive administrative, operational, reporting and quality improvements through partnership with internal teams
  • Responsible for all cross product technology, regulatory and administrative duties in conjunction with the team, including financial, staffing, quality, risk and regulatory matters
  • Execute vendor management activities, including ensuring legal requirements are met and coordinating contract negotiation and processing
  • Provide oversight of the Business Critical Milestone Reporting process and other reporting processes to ensure quality, efficiency and accuracy
  • Ensure headcount is accurate, real estate is inventoried and planned, and onboarding and termination of resources are managed
  • Work with Technology leadership to support the Business People strategy as well as the Communication strategy for the department
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Recommended Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in global and complex settings with multiple stakeholders
  • Management experience, preferably in a financial services role
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry and technology
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a team
  • Proven ability to work in high-pressure environments
  • Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master's degree preferred

  • Advanced Financial Modeling: Proficiency in developing complex financial models to forecast, analyze, and report on budget performance, investment returns, and cost-benefit analyses specific to technology projects and initiatives.
  • Variance Analysis and Reporting: Expertise in identifying, analyzing, and explaining budget variances, recommending corrective actions, and preparing clear, concise reports for senior leadership.
  • Cost Optimization Strategies: Demonstrated ability to identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements within technology expenditures, including vendor negotiations, license management, and resource allocation.
  • Return on Investment (ROI) Analysis: Skill in evaluating the financial viability and potential returns of proposed technology investments and projects.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Capacity to translate complex financial data into actionable insights that inform strategic decisions and resource allocation within a technology context.

Technical and Dashboarding Capabilities

  • Business Intelligence (BI) Tools Proficiency: Hands-on experience with leading BI platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, QlikView) for designing, developing, and maintaining interactive financial dashboards and reports.
  • Data Visualization: Strong ability to create compelling and easy-to-understand visualizations of financial data, trends, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for diverse audiences.
  • Data Integration and Management: Familiarity with integrating data from various financial systems and technology platforms to ensure accuracy and completeness in reporting.

Operational Excellence and Process Improvement

  • Process Automation: Experience in identifying opportunities to automate manual budget processes, improving efficiency and reducing errors.
  • Strategic Planning and Forecasting: Ability to contribute to the long-term financial planning for technology initiatives, aligning budget allocation with organizational goals.

Leadership and Remote Management

  • Remote Team Leadership: Proven track record of effectively leading, motivating, and developing remote or distributed financial teams, fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Change Management: Skill in guiding teams through process changes, technology adoptions, and organizational transformations related to financial management.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with technology leaders, project managers, and other stakeholders across different departments.

Risk Management and Proactive Identification

  • Financial Risk Assessment: Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks specific to technology projects, such as budget overruns, cost escalations, and unforeseen expenses.
  • Opportunity Identification: Proactive approach to identifying financial opportunities, such as funding grants, cost-saving technologies, or potential revenue streams related to technology assets.
  • Contingency Planning: Experience in developing contingency plans and scenario analyses to address potential budget challenges and ensure financial stability.
