About the role:
Research, analyze, and monitor changes in tax laws, statutes, regulations, court decisions, and authoritative publications across multiple jurisdictions, proactively identifying impacts and documenting defensible positions and recommendations.
Translate complex tax and accounting regulatory requirements into detailed, testable requirements, user stories, and specifications, ensuring alignment with data models, e-file schemas, and system capabilities.
Execute content implementation and updates across applications, lead risk-based testing and regression procedures, perform root-cause analysis on defects, and drive quality improvements through enhanced requirements and test coverage.
Lead cross-functional alignment with Product, Engineering, Design, and QA on workflows, business rules, scope, and acceptance criteria, contributing go/no-go input for release readiness.
Manage medium-complexity content initiatives end-to-end, including planning, estimation, execution, and validation, while proactively communicating risks and status to stakeholders.
Partner with Customer Support to research and resolve complex or ambiguous client inquiries, feeding insights back into backlog priorities and quality improvements.
Identify and implement process improvements that enhance quality, efficiency, and scalability, contributing to team playbooks, templates, and test suites, while providing day-to-day technical guidance and reviewing peers' work for accuracy and compliance.
About you:
You hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Computer Science, and ideally hold or are actively working toward a CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential.
You bring significant hands-on experience in tax preparation, compliance, or developing tax-related software content, with expertise spanning areas such as corporate income tax, U.S. international tax, sales and use tax, or VAT.
You are proficient with leading tax compliance software (e.g., ONESOURCE, GoSystem Tax, UltraTax) and research platforms (e.g., Checkpoint, government databases), and are comfortable working with data formats such as CSV, XML, SQL, and e-file schemas.
You can interpret and operationalize complex, cross-jurisdictional tax rules — including effective dates, transitional rules, sourcing and apportionment, elections, and phase-outs — and communicate them clearly to both tax and non-tax audiences.
You have experience working in Agile delivery environments and are comfortable driving SDLC processes, change management, and UAT across a feature area or domain.
You are organized, self-directed, and capable of independently managing multiple priorities and strict deadlines, owning outcomes end-to-end and communicating status and risks transparently.
You embrace emerging tools and technologies, including AI-assisted workflows and automation, and apply them responsibly to improve team efficiency, quality, and compliance.
