Job Description

Team Summary

Visa Risk Services in the Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar and Cambodia (IPVMC) cluster partners with internal and external stakeholders to champion security and maintain the integrity of the digital payments ecosystem. The team, reporting to Visa’s Regional Risk Officer, is responsible for strategic risk management, credit settlement risk, brand protection, supervisory risk, fraud management, and data security across IPVMC markets.

The Indonesia Head of Supervisory & Regulatory Risk, reporting to the IPVMC Head of Risk and working closely with the Head of Asia Pacific Supervisory Risk, serves as the main contact for Visa’s supervisory engagement with regulatory bodies (e.g., Bank Indonesia). This role provides strategic vision on supervisory risks, responds to regulatory queries, fulfills data requests, supports regulatory projects, and leads audits.

What an Indonesia Head of Supervisory & Regulatory Risk does at Visa:

You will lead Visa’s regulatory compliance strategy in Indonesia, serving as the expert on the country’s evolving regulatory compliance landscape. Your role will ensure Visa meets its obligations while supporting innovation and growth in the payments ecosystem. Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee regulatory and supervisory reporting for Indonesia, ensuring Visa meets every deadline and handling regulatory notices, consultation requests, queries, and operational security events efficiently and accurately.
  • Lead the preparation of deliverables for regulatory submissions, coordinating with key stakeholders (Government Affairs, Legal, Compliance, Product, Finance) and providing timely updates to the Indonesia country leadership team.
  • Collaborate across internal teams to influence policies and shape new regulatory reporting requirements. Ensure Visa adapts to regulatory changes with minimal business disruption, including preparing colleagues for engagements with regulators and government agencies.
  • Partner with internal teams (Product, Government Affairs) and external partners (clients, digital wallets) to drive compliance for new products and features and regulatory readiness for innovation.
  • Support the process for securing and maintaining Visa’s operating licenses in Indonesia (and other key markets as needed) by ensuring we comply with all licensing requirements and conditions.
  • Serve as the primary coordinator for incident and security management in Indonesia, driving swift and effective responses to any risk events and making required notifications to regulators and clients when necessary.
  • Maintain an up-to-date supervisory risk register and obligations tracker for Indonesia, monitoring our compliance status and ensuring accountability for all regulatory commitments.
  • Lead external audits or reviews by regulatory authorities, coordinating with internal subject matter owners to address findings and implement recommendations. You will also support internal audits related to regulatory compliance.
  • Drive change management for new regulatory reporting requirements, implementing new processes as needed and periodically reviewing existing obligations to ensure they remain effective and relevant.
  • Provide regular reports and metrics on regulatory and supervisory matters, including key trends, risks, and accomplishments to (regional) leadership, ensuring visibility of Indonesia’s regulatory landscape.
  • Develop insights to strengthen our risk governance, analyzing supervisory feedback or reporting issues to advise Visa’s business on how to improve compliance. You will proactively engage with regulatory bodies (e.g., Bank Indonesia) to build relationships and stay ahead of emerging policy changes.
  • Support responses to regulatory‑related inquiries from clients and stakeholders, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with regulatory obligations

You will work closely with the Indonesia Leadership Team and cross-functional partners to ensure Visa’s continued success in a fast-evolving regulatory environment.

Why this is important to Visa:

This is a high-impact role at the crossroads of fast-evolving product innovation and regulatory compliance in one of Visa’s most dynamic markets. Indonesia is emerging as a home for increasingly complex regulations which require high degree of reporting obligation with zero margin for error. This role is key in fulfilling those obligations, in the absence of which, there could be risk of censure by the regulators.

Projects you will be a part of:

Beyond day‑to‑day regulatory inquiries, you will drive industry and regulatory initiatives that strengthen the safety and security of the payments ecosystem. This includes proactive engagement with regulators, industry associations, and government bodies on payment system risk, fraud, and cybersecurity matters, while coordinating closely with internal partners such as Risk, Product, Legal, and Government Affairs.

You will work cross‑functionally and with global teams to embed security‑by‑design into new products and services. For example, you may support the rollout of a new digital payment solution or mobile‑wallet service in Indonesia by developing compliance plans aligned with local regulations. You will also help Visa navigate evolving

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
