What does the VCA team do

Visa Consulting & Analytics (VCA) drives tangible, impactful and financial results for Visa's clients, including card issuers, acquirers, and merchants. Drawing on our expertise in strategy consulting, data analytics, brand management, marketing, operations and macroeconomics, VCA solves the most strategic problems for our clients.

The VCA team within Japan provides a comprehensive range of consulting services and solutions to our clients in Japan, that address unique challenges in areas such as strategic growth, profitability, risk management and digital strategy. In VCA, the Account Dedicated Team plays a key role to enhance the partnership with one of Visa Japan’s largest clients and focuses on developing, implementing, and improving clients’ business by collaborating with them closely.

 

What a Sr. Credit Risk Manager for Account Dedicated Team in the Visa Consulting and Analytics team does at Visa:

This role in Japan will be responsible for delivering the implementation service for one of the largest issuing clients in Japan, enabling growth and improved profitability across their payments business.

The Account Dedicated Team is responsible for delivering advisory and implementation service to the client as part of account dedicated team across Credit Risk and Portfolio Optimization areas. The Senior Manager Credit Risk individual will bring expertise in both the Credit Risk functional domain and in risk analytics gained as Risk practitioner within a bank and/or a specialized risk consulting firm. We are looking for a motivated, analytically minded individual with a track record of using Risk expertise to unlock business value.

As a Sr. Manager, you will play a pivotal role in developing and expanding our Credit Risk consulting services, focusing on key priority areas that will grow both Visa’s and the client’s business. One of the key priority areas will be issuer portfolio optimization. Potential projects include optimization of the client’s processes around cards acquisition, underwriting, portfolio management and collections, development of risk models and their use for decisioning across the credit lifecycle, etc.

Key responsibilities for the Senior Manager Credit Risk include:

  • Contribute to the delivery of Credit Risk advisory engagements as part of the account dedicated team
  • Business Development: Prepare client proposals and project plans, identifying dependencies, roles and responsibilities, scope, and deliverables.
  • End-to-end delivery of multiple projects within timelines, scope and budget requirements
  • Ensuring all project documentation is up to date and maintain the highest levels of quality in deliverables
  • Support the development and maintenance of consistency, standards and quality control of Credit Risk consulting methodologies, ensuring world-class best practices and efficiency through economies of scale.
  • Thought Leadership, Practice, and Solution Development: Create consulting practice materials such as set-plays, pitch decks, whitepapers and other assets following best practices and the latest IP that Visa team can use to scale reach and impact.

Some examples of projects you will be a part of:
The account dedicated team will focus on executions/implementations regardless of project types:

  • Portfolio optimization projects, such as portfolio diagnostics, acquisition strategy, predictive analytics to drive customer engagement / retention, or bespoke engagements combining client’s and Visa’s data sets
  • Risk projects, such as underwriting strategy or fraud management

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.


Qualifications

What you will need:
Having already accumulated a variety of experience, you will be curious about the payments industry and keen to work alongside an experienced team to quickly gain a deeper understanding. You will be client driven, comfortable managing a project end to end and relishing the opportunity to work closely with clients to influence their future performance.

Specific skills and experience you will bring are:

  • Fluent Japanese and at least business level English proficiency.
  • Domain expertise in Credit Risk Management. Deep understanding of the credit risk industry (preferable in the payment industry), key players, regulatory framework and credit risk management best practices.
  • Understanding of the credit risk models development approach, decisioning strategy definition and implementation, operational and regulatory reporting.
  • Self-motivated, results oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically.
  • Excellent communication, storytelling and presentation skills.
  • Detailed oriented, the candidate is expected to ensure the highest level of quality/rigor in deliverables, reports & data analysis.
  • Proven skills in translating analytics output to actionable recommendations. Experience in presenting ideas and analysis to stakeholders with the ability to tailor data driven results to various audience levels. Expert proficiency in power point and excel.
  • Team player with collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible style, able to work across cultures. Individual, that upholds and promotes the highest ethical standards and mutual respect in the workplace.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with experience in developing business cases with proven ROI.


What will also help:

  • Experience in the retail banking industry, or consulting are strongly plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of the payment industry (i.e. trends, threats, competitors, regulatory environments), client segment and region/market.
  • PMP certification or experience in technical project management.
