Job Description

Purpose:

The ME (Medical Engagement) team within MHI (Medical Affairs + Health Impact) plays an instrumental role in supporting Therapeutic Area (TA) strategy and informing tactical execution for AbbVie’s therapeutic areas globally. As Senior Manager, Business Analytics on the Medical Engagement team you will execute standard and ad-hoc analytic delivery. Analytic output will be used to inform strategic opportunities, provide recommendations, elevate organizational data maturation, and develop sustainable, automated analytic processes. This role requires strong data analytic capabilities across various data ecosystems.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform and lead analytics projects across the various AbbVie therapeutic areas and the MHI organization through claims and business data analysis by leveraging both internal and external datasets including big data sources to shape utilization of strategic insight opportunities.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of the U.S. healthcare landscape and key AbbVie Therapeutic areas to identify and proactively address opportunities and threats.
  • Build collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., HEOR, RWD/E teams, therapeutic area teams, operations, and BTS/IR to accomplish individual, enterprise, and cross functional goals.
  • Demonstrating a strong understanding of data analytics with familiarity in data science concepts and modeling techniques to identify opportunities to further improve patient care through the impact of MHI via the identification of care barriers and education focused on alignment to stands of care and published guidelines.
  • Highly proficient at supplier and stakeholder management, leading analytics to deliver compelling learnings, and formulating analytical strategies.
  • Advising cross-functional partners on key data/analytics infrastructure enhancement to enable superior analytical capabilities.
  • Leverage experience with data cleaning, data mining, visualization and descriptive statistics across disparate global infrastructures.
  • Advise cross functional technical partners on infrastructure optimization to enable enhanced data and analytics, leading the communication of MHI analytical insights to leadership requiring a broad range of MHI expertise as trends evolve.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation to support code, methodologies and other supporting design documents.
  • Optimize utilization of enterprise resources, and ecosystems to identify appropriate data sources, refine data, and leverage tools and infrastructure.
  • Anticipate and lead the development of analytic capabilities with a strategic mindset.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required, advanced degree in data science or analytical method related disciplines preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience
  • 5+ years of related industry experience in marketing/sales/HEOR/business analytics
  • Must be proficient in R, SQL, Python, SAS, and standard data visualization tools.
  • Strong story telling skills; ability to distill complex information synthesized into concise and impactful messages and communications.
  • Strong working knowledge of syndicated pharmaceutical data sources (e.g., RWD, claims, EMR data).
  • Demonstrates expert-level PowerPoint proficiency to visually support narratives and deliver clear, impactful communication of complex data to business stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of strategic thinking, operational excellence, and strong communication skills.
