What is The Role:

As a Senior DevOps Engineer on the Search Developer Productivity team, you’ll enhance the quality, efficiency, performance, and security of developer workflows across the Search organization. You’ll work closely with teams within Search and across Elastic to enable high engineering productivity through automation, robust CI/CD pipelines, and tooling for testing, benchmarking, and security. You’ll take technical ownership of reliable, monitored infrastructure and ensure the Search team can efficiently deliver new features and products.

What You Will Be Doing:

• You will build and improve benchmarking infrastructure to help engineers easily create, run, and monitor performance tests.
• You will strengthen observability and alerting across Search products to improve visibility and reduce incident response times.
• Share expertise to promote reliability, performance, and security awareness across teams.
• You will collaborate with and mentor teammates in a mostly text-based, asynchronous, remote-first team environment with occasional video calls and yearly conferences.
• You’ll be hands-on with the team and codebase, reviewing work and providing constructive feedback.
• You will collaborate with the team lead and the team on projects, breaking them down into technical deliverables. You’ll act as an important and communicative part of an engaged and spirited team.

What You Bring:

• “Low ego” and the desire to grow as part of a team.
• Experience in using scripting programming languages such as Python, Bash, JavaScript, etc.
• Experience working with Terraform
• Experience in one or more CSPs
• Experience working with Docker
• Experience building automations and setting up monitoring/alerting
• Experience building the infrastructure for benchmarking is a plus
• Familiarity with Kubernetes is a plus
• Excellent practical judgment. You know how to prioritize, when to collaborate and ask for help, and when to be independent.
• Measured and articulate written and spoken communication skills. You work well with others and can craft concise and expressive thoughts into artifacts: issues, investigations, documentation, and onboarding material.
• An interest in learning new tools, languages, workflows, and philosophies that can help you grow. You can function well in an environment that drives towards change.
