You will:

  • Deliver monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for entities in Japan, in JGAAP or USGAAP, including regulated entities
  • Analyze all proposed and existing products, services or businesses collaborating with Accounting and Regulatory Policy team, Legal and Compliance department and other relevant groups to avoid challenges in financial/regulatory audit
  • Manage the required processes that support the Firm’s legal entity governance and structure by executing policy and guidance
  • Identify risk areas and execute control enhancement initiatives  
  • Partners with direct reports to develop, review and update career development planning, goals and interests

You have:

  • Advanced understanding of at least one of the following areas: risk management & control or project management related to legal entity controller, financial regulatory reporting, broker-dealer accounting in financial industry, audited financial statements with comprehensive footnotes or auditing financial statements
  • Strong technical skills and ability to assist in the reengineering of innovative solutions and policies that align with organizational goals while leveraging the knowledge of partners
  • Ability and willingness to lead collaboration with virtual teams across varying regions towards the achievement of common goals
  • Aptitude for working in a swiftly changing, dynamic environment
  • Strong attention to data quality and skills to solve the issue
  • Excellent communication skills (English proficiency required. Japanese proficiency is preferred, but optional)
  • Strong commitment to deliverables with high standards for quality of work and accuracy
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • University degree (BSc or BA) in accounting, finance, or a related discipline
  • 8 years of work experience in a related field

Team Profile: Legal Entity Controllers is responsible for the accounting, reporting and oversight of core legal entities. This includes preparation of financial statements, federal and local regulatory filings, monthly closing of the Firms books and records, analytics, entity-specific accounting policy, legal entity maintenance, account reconciliation and account structure maintenance. The team in Tokyo works closely with the New York, London, and Hong Kong offices.
