Job Description

Purpose

Director, Talent Strategy Initiatives and Organizational Excellence is a high-impact role responsible for accelerating enterprise-wide talent and organizational effectiveness initiatives. This leader operates at the intersection of talent strategy, organizational excellence, and transformation, driving critical sprints and long-term capability building. The role partners closely with senior leadership, HR teams, and business stakeholders to shape, deliver, and embed solutions that increase performance, strengthen culture, and enhance AbbVie’s organizational agility.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end execution of high-priority talent strategy and organizational effectiveness initiatives, ensuring alignment to enterprise strategy and urgent delivery of business-critical outcomes.
  • Drive program management excellence, applying structured frameworks using agile, sprint-based, and PMO methodologies to keep multiple workstreams on track and focused on value realization.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between initiative teams and senior stakeholders, including executive sponsors. Proactively identify and resolve barriers, align stakeholders around shared outcomes.
  • Consult with senior business and HR leaders to identify and execute organizational design and effectiveness opportunities that support business priorities.
  • Facilitate live and virtual engagements, from coaching sessions to enterprise-wide workshops, building organizational effectiveness capability.
  • Integrate best practices and innovative frameworks to elevate talent strategy and organizational effectiveness strategies.
  • Establish clear success metrics and track measurable impact, optimizing programs for efficiency and sustained results.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, Master’s in Organizational Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, HR or related) strongly preferred.
  • 12+ years’ progressive experience in talent strategy, organizational design/development, and business transformation roles.
  • Demonstrated track record leading enterprise-wide, cross-functional initiatives and consulting with senior executives.
  • Experience developing and implementing organizational effectiveness frameworks, tools, and materials.
  • Capability in instructional design, facilitation, and coaching senior leaders.
  • Experience with agile, sprint-based, or rapid solution delivery methodologies.

  • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs. ​
