Job Description

Visa is expanding its Global Product Design Team to support a growing digital product ecosystem across Consumer, Commercial Money Movement, Value‑Added Services, and Platforms.

We believe in delivering work that is bold, smart, inspired, and trusted—qualities that elevate good design into great design, and great design into enduring experiences. We continuously rethink and redefine how people interact with Visa’s products and services. Our team is composed of innovative thinkers and strategic problem‑solvers who are as analytical as they are creative. We value hard work, accountability, collaboration, and we prize proven skills and team success over personal gain.

As a Staff Experience Designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping end‑to‑end experiences, elevating design quality, and driving cross‑functional alignment. You will lead through influence, demonstrate mastery of your craft, and consistently raise the bar for product vision, usability, accessibility, and systems thinking.

Responsibilities

Product & Experience Leadership

  • Drive the vision and strategy for user experiences across multiple product areas.
  • Translate complex problems into clear, compelling, user‑centered design solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve customer experience, product clarity, and business outcomes.
  • Influence product roadmaps and advocate for design excellence through data, insights, and storytelling.

Advanced Design Craft & Execution

  • Deliver polished, scalable design solutions—including flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high‑fidelity UI.
  • Work confidently within and beyond design systems; extend or evolve system components when needed.
  • Utilize AI‑powered design tools and emerging technologies to accelerate exploration and execution.
  • Create prototypes (low‑ to high‑fidelity) that effectively communicate concepts and interaction patterns.

Systems Thinking & Domain Expertise

  • Apply deep Interaction Design expertise across complex, multi‑platform experiences.
  • Ensure solutions meet or exceed accessibility standards (WCAG), designing inclusively by default.
  • Evaluate product ecosystems holistically—mapping dependencies, edge cases, and long‑term implications.
  • Contribute to the evolution of design systems by identifying gaps, proposing components, and improving patterns.

Strategic Problem Solving

  • Clarify ambiguous problem spaces and turn them into structured opportunities.
  • Use rapid visualization, whiteboarding, or FigJam to drive shared understanding at the speed of conversation.
  • Ground decisions in research insights, competitive analysis, and emerging industry trends.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Influence

  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, and Business teams to shape requirements and direction.
  • Communicate concepts, recommendations, and trade‑offs clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Lead design discussions, critique sessions, and workshops that move teams toward alignment and clarity.

Mentorship & Craft Leadership

  • Support the growth of junior and mid‑level designers by providing actionable feedback and coaching.
  • Model healthy design practices, strong design rationale, and high execution standards.

Portfolio Requirement

  • A portfolio demonstrating outstanding product thinking, systems thinking, and end‑to‑end design execution.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

  • Strong visual craft paired with strategic thinking—balancing user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
  • Experience with experimentation and growth practices (A/B testing, data‑driven decision‑making, iterative optimization).
  • Ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative research to inform, validate, and refine design decisions.
