The Underwriting Consultant for Student Resources will analyze health benefit plan characteristics through case risk evaluation, and product pricing for the College and University block of business. They will utilize established underwriting criteria and policies to provide proper rating methodologies. This Underwriting Consultant will represent and negotiate fees/rates and plan options to optimize cost-competitive health benefit plans. They will utilize pricing models to assist in the economic analysis of new business and renewal customers.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Gather data for medical and pharmacy benefits from source systems
- Utilize pricing tools to prepare customer experience projections, premiums, and fees
- Apply detailed underwriting analysis to provide appropriate rating consistent with underwriting guidelines, and assess risk to determine pricing
- Communicate clearly and effectively with sales partners and operational areas.
- Collaborate and negotiate with internal/external partners regarding price, contractual terms, and/or guarantees
- Support proposal development team in completing request for proposals

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Finance, Business, or related field
- 4+ years of experience in healthcare underwriting
- Proficiency with MS Office suite products
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4+ years of Fully Insured or Self-Funded/Stop Loss Underwriting experience in healthcare industry
- Advanced Skills in MS Excel
- Proven excellent organization skills
- Proven detailed oriented
- Proven effective negotiation skills
