Responsibilities
- Contribute to the day-to-day operations associated with operating and maintaining a R&D lab environment (servers, network, topologies).
- Install, provision, and provide initial configuration of resources supporting the engineering lab function, such as routers, switches, servers, power distribution, and cabling. Administer and maintain deployed lab resources. Assist in the relocation, storage, or decommissioning of resources.
- Partner closely with peers and lab users to troubleshoot or resolve issues. Participate with principals and managers on projects and initiatives, as needed. Develop and maintain rapport with labs’ other service providers in support of lab user success.
- Be a principal in the evolution of the lab infrastructure. Contribute to advanced lab service capabilities.
- Facilitate the resolution of request tickets submitted by the engineering team. Assure achievement of GLO service level agreements.
- Coach other members of the support team, sharing technical and customer knowledge in a helpful and timely fashion.
- Comply with lab policies and best practices to assure a safe and efficient lab environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (CS, CE) or equivalent experience (5+ years) in administering IT-related services and hardware.
- Ability to read, understand, and execute written instructions and policies. Proficiency in written and verbal communication; outstanding interpersonal collaboration skills. Demonstrated discipline in documenting procedures and outcomes.
- Experience with current server architecture and hardware. (Dell, HPE, Lenovo, SuperMicro)
- Practiced experience in a VMware infrastructure environment. (ESXi, vCenter)
- Recent experience administering Linux or other Unix (BSD) systems; virtualization (KVM, libvert); containers (Docker/Kubernetes/Openshift). Experience with networked services. (DNS, NTP, PXE, DHCP, NFS)
- Useful experience administering and troubleshooting Windows servers and services in an engineering environment.
- Working experience with L1, L2, and L3 networking and related technologies. Hands-on configuration and operational knowledge of more than one of the following elements: routers, switches, firewalls. Experience with optical fiber, distribution, and cable management systems.
- Have the ability to read, write, and debug automation (sh, bash, powershell, python) and/or configuration management vehicles (Ansible)
- Demonstrated ability to succeed both independently and in a team context; ability to manage multiple efforts in a fast-paced environment. Possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a drive to deliver on commitments.
- Be highly motivated, self-started, and possess the ability to work independently to plan, to identify problems, and to produce results.
- Exceptional technical, analytical, and troubleshooting skills. Possess an ability to explain technical concepts and provide guidance to lab users & staff.
- Willing to work onsite during normal business hours; be available for scheduled on-call service to support the infrastructure and customers, when needed. Must be willing and able to reach with hands and arms, bend, and lift or move equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 7+ years of systems administration in a R&D lab environment.
- Useful experience administering Windows servers and services (Active Directory, NLA, SCCM) in an engineering environment.
- Advanced networking knowledge and experience (high availability, overlays, link/channel bonding, virtual networking).
- Administration of storage appliances (NetApp, Pure).
- Experience with public (AWS) or hybrid cloud use cases.
- Experience with network simulation or test instruments. (E.g., Keysight/Ixia, Spirent)
- Working knowledge of reliable physical plant operations. E.g., AC or DC power distribution systems, highly available operations, infrastructure monitoring, etc.
Minimum Salary: $95,700.00
Maximum Salary:$146,740.00
The pay range for this position is expected to be between $95,700.00 and $146,740.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
Juniper’s pay range data is provided in accordance with local state pay transparency regulations. Juniper may post different minimum wage ranges for permanent residency petitions pursuant to US Department of Labor requirements.
