Positon Summary:
The GDC Broadcast Support Engineer will be responsible for assisting in managing and carrying out the essential functions of the Game Distribution Center located in Secaucus, NJ and remote productions (including cloud production) as it relates to production, transport and added-services workflows.
The role requires management of multiple systems and workflows to support the growing needs of Direct-to-Consumer contents.
This position requires a person who has a well-rounded knowledge of broadcast systems and broadcast equipment, particularly IP equipment based on uncompressed/compressed video formats, and multicast networking including production switchers, routers, video processing hardware, record and playback, tallies, GPIO control, timing and phasing, serial protocols and communication.
This individual will be part of the Systems Engineering & Support group and will work to support live event services, respond to problem tickets and escalations, complete and document thorough troubleshooting steps, escalate issues or situations as requested and/or required and will communicate with transparency and a clear passion for the Customer experience.
Major Responsibilities:
- The position requires a proven technical broadcast background to maintain on-air operations of server-based digital video and audio control systems, automation systems and their associated software and hardware infrastructure.
- Supporting, managing, maintaining and troubleshooting of broadcast systems and IP based and network connected equipment such as 3G/HD production hybrid routers, multi viewers, production switchers, IP codecs, and broadcast department network Layer 2/3 switches.
- Interact / Support: Remote Arena Engineers, Production, IT, Operations & Customers/Vendors.
- Support live environment for Game Distribution Center including on-prem and cloud services.
- Provides troubleshooting support when sophisticated issues arise to support operational standards and uptime.
- Ability to work all shifts associated with 24x7x365 production environments.
Required Education/Professional Experience:
- 2 - 5 years of broadcast IT or technical engineering experience
- College degree in Communications/Engineering or related field
- In lieu of college degree, significant field experience will be considered
Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes:
- Must have a knowledge of broadcast media standards, workflow, and technologies responsible for routing, switching, encoding, audio processing and distribution!
- Knowledge and experience of Core Routing and Switching design, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of IP Networking Protocols (IGMPv2/v3).
- Must be versed in SMPTE standards for video production environments; examples include ST-292M, ST-424M, ST-2110, ST-2059, IEE1588, ST-2022-7, SCTE-104, etc.
- Demonstrate ability to work independently and creatively!
Salary Range: [[$90,000 - $115,000]]
