Essential Functions and Job/Position Summary:
This position requires a person who has a well-rounded knowledge of broadcast systems including non-linear record/playback devices, Broadcast Production and master control, video compression and distribution. The candidate must have a thorough understanding of both compressed and uncompressed IP Video standards, network architecture and the capability of troubleshooting across them. This individual will be part of the Broadcast Engineering group and will provide technical support for the core broadcast infrastructure and architecture. This individual will also be responsible for facilitating design, planning, cost estimate and implementation of new initiatives.
Major Responsibilities:
- Lead Design, deployment, and support live video production Broadcast infrastructure.
- Support and manage non-linear recording devices.
- Support non-linear edit and graphics creation systems.
- Collaborate with Broadcast technicians, Broadcast Operations, and production staff to ensure smooth execution of live and recorded broadcasts.
- Build and maintain working relationships with vendors for product support (rentals, upgrades, new product development, etc.).
- Develop tooling and procedures to improve QC of live signals by engineering and operations teams.
- Monitor signal integrity, video quality, and audio levels to uphold broadcast standards.
- Assist with supervision, facility design, construction, and installations as necessary.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks and system upgrades to optimize broadcast performance.
- Develop integration between scheduling, traffic, and automation systems.
Required Education/Professional Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of technical engineering experience.
- College degree in Communications/Engineering or related field required.
- Significant field experience will be considered in place of a college degree.
Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes:
- Expertise working with routing platforms for video, media workflow, video transport and delivery.
- Must have strong knowledge of broadcast systems and operations and possess the ability to assemble and operate studio, post, and on-air production systems.
- Experience in supporting non-linear devices such as EVS, Dreamcatcher or equivalent.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting complex technical issues and implementing effective solutions.
- Strong understanding of broadcast signal flow, video/audio codecs, and transmission protocols.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Visio, and other technical documentation software.
- Strong understanding of Device Control Protocols, API, SNMP
- Willingness to travel and accept shift and weekend assignments.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse teams
Salary Range: $165,000 - $205,000
