If you're passionate about what you could accomplish here, we'd love to hear from you. For over 30 years, Raytheon operates and maintains the Navy’s three Relocatable Over The Horizon Radars (ROTHR). Each radar consists of a remote transmit and receive site. All radars are operated from the Consolidated Operations Control Center in Chesapeake, Virginia. Each radar is capable of covering over four million square miles across the Caribbean, Eastern Pacific, Central, and South America with all systems manned and operated 24 hours a day. The ROTHR mission is primarily to track and report the movement of aircraft and ships carrying illicit narcotics from South America toward Central America and the United States. What You Will Do- ·Perform systems level operation and monitoring of ROTHR transmitter site equipment, and performs organizational, preventative and intermediate level maintenance on ROTHR transmitter equipment.
- oROTHR transmitter equipment consists of but is not limited to Solid-State High-Powered-Amplifiers (HPA), Power-Amplifier Power-Supplies (PAPS), Phased Array Antennae (Log Periodic HF), Digital Beam-formers and Exciters, RF Hardware, Digital Hardware, Microprocessor based controllers, Minicomputers, Microcomputers, and peripheral equipment.
- ·Receives technical guidance and tasking, as desired, from supervisor or higher-level technician, and work is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices.
- ·Work typically requires comprehensive technical knowledge to resolve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents.
- ·Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence in selecting and using the appropriate resources and test equipment.
- ·Candidate will perform all other related duties as assigned and required.
- Graduation in Electronic or Electrical Engineering Technology from technical institute above high school with a minimum curriculum length of two-years, or Military Technical/Training School with minimum curriculum length of six months.
- Must have five years of related experience.
- Experience with test equipment and systematic procedures for troubleshooting, overhaul, fault isolation, and repair of major electronic systems comprised of amplifier and transmitter functions.
- Must have a clean motor vehicle driving record to obtain authorization to drive company vehicles.
- The selected candidate may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government issued DoD Secret clearance. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance and to obtain any required Export Authorization
- At least one year of technician experience in assembly, overhaul, repair, modification, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of communications, radar or digital electronics systems of the same complexity and magnitude as ROTHR.
- Previous or current security clearance.
