Meet The Speakers

Ruhiyyih Mahalati
Ruhiyyih Mahalati
Principal Group Engineering Manager

Ruhiyyih Mahalati is a Partner Group Engineering Manager at Microsoft. In this role, she is currently responsible for the Azure’s UX (user experience) product. This includes delivery of the core management user experiences, overall Azure UX shell and runtime, internal UX development framework and components, deployment infrastructure, operations, telemetry, QoS initiatives across all Azure, and product specific experiences for Azure Core like Compute, Containers, Storage, Azure Arc, Networking etc. Azure Portal and the Azure Mobile app are the customer facing deliverables from the team that serves millions of users monthly.

During her 16 years at Microsoft she had led many different teams and organizations from on-prem server products to cloud services; owning full-stack services and leading geo-distributed teams of over 140+ talented engineers. Ruhiyyih is an inspiring leader who is passionate about building inclusive diverse teams, fostering growth-mindset, and advocating for professional development and personal growth. She is committed to growing leaders at all career levels, and serves as a mentor for many others at Microsoft.

Ruhiyyih earned her Master of Science in Computer Science from North Carolina State University. She grew up in India and currently lives in the Seattle area with her husband and two kids. She loves nature, different cultures and cuisines.

Olawale (Wale) Akintayo
Olawale (Wale) Akintayo
Program Manager II

Olawale (Wale) Akintayo is a Data PM in the Azure Storage Profitability and Capacity Team. He is responsible for developing key business insights and strategy for reducing the Azure Storage team’s cost profile while ensuring hyperscale growth with efficiency. Wale joined Microsoft in August 2020. Prior to Joining Microsoft, he spent 8 years in engineering consulting where he was responsible for managing the execution of project deliverables in the EMIS and EHS space across several sectors. Outside of work, he enjoys playing soccer, biking, and grilling.
