Mobile Engineer II, Android

Introduction to team

Are you passionate about building innovative mobile experiences? As part of Expedia Group's Supply Partner Experience team, you will work on the partner apps that supply and manage our hotel and vacation rental inventory.

Make an impact!

The Android Mobile Engineer II role will work on our VRBO Owner and EPC Mobile native apps across a wide range of supply partner product features, including features in promotions, conversations, inbox, and reservations. Our team works across Android, iOS, and backend technologies including TypeScript/Node and Java, offering you a unique opportunity to learn, grow, and make a real impact.

In this role, you will:

  • Build state of the art, secure and highly available mobile applications with a strong focus on excellent user experience.
  • Collaborate with developers, product management and UX to deliver objectives and goals set together as a team.
  • Drive continuous improvement and continuous delivery in the software development process within an agile development team to rapidly deliver quality.
  • Take ownership of your solutions all the way to production, striving for operational excellence with a first-to-know, quick-to-fix and always improving attitude. And have fun working with a passionate and diverse team!
  • Work closely with the rest of our globally distributed native mobile developers, helping to break apart monolithic apps and improve platform capabilities to meet their needs.
  • Facilitate and contribute to discussions that result in simple, scalable, and reliable system designs.
  • Help our teams operate efficiently and collaboratively to build apps that are performant, compact, intuitive, and maintainable.

Experience and qualifications:

  • Strong experience in Android development (Java/Kotlin, modern Android frameworks, app architecture).
  • Proven skills in backend development (REST APIs, TypeScript / Java, GraphQL, databases, server-side frameworks) to build and integrate end-to-end solutions.
  • Display outstanding communication and interpersonal skills - having worked in a distributed team before is a plus!
  • Are inquisitive and have an eye for detail
  • Have experience guiding technical designs, mentoring developers, and helping to drive engineering excellence.
  • Are opinionated and share your ideas freely, with a genuine appetite for knowledge!
