Function Description
The Enterprise Data Strategy (EDS) team, in Credit and Fraud Risk Management is responsible for optimizing risk decisions through the lifecycle by identifying, testing, and integrating internal data with external data assets. The team also manages data strategy, and relationships with key third party data providers and contribution policy with external data partners (including credit bureaus) to support risk products in prospecting, new accounts, customer management, and collection practices. The team serves as a critical channel for the exploration of new data opportunities for the firm.
The incumbent will be part of the Enterprise Data Strategy team based out of Gurgaon, India and will report to Manager – Global Accounts Monitoring Governance and AEMP70 Compliance within Enterprise Data Strategy team and will partner closely with CCO, Decision Science, Strategy, Product Teams, Enterprise Data Governance within Amex and external third-party data providers to strengthen external data governance via creation of inbound policies, driving clarity on permissibility of GAM data, access & data quality controls etc. to ensure AEMP 70 compliance.
We seek a creative and thoughtful problem-solver to help define appropriate frameworks, policies, procedures to have an oversight on account monitoring ecosystem, manage permissible purposes, strategic controls ensuring risks are identified early, managed effectively and mitigated in line with regulatory requirements and AXPs risk appetite, across the customer lifecycle
Responsibilities:
- Complete oversight of contracts to understand compliant usage of third-party data; and map contracts to define permissible usage of the data for enterprise use cases
- Define and document permissible purpose usage of the third-party data and align the principles with Enterprise Data Strategy committee
- Work with RPDS Data stewards to develop access controls to ensure adherence to prescribed permissible purpose of data
- Have a global view of data usage and provide rationalization of external data to maximize the usage benefits from the data.
- Develop policy of monitoring of customers with third party’s keeping in mind business objectives, Collection policies, cost of data and market regulations
- Monitor the controls around the third-party data and manage operational risk working the CFR operational risk team. Streamline issue management framework for alerts related to account monitoring processes
- Owns the global Process Risk Self-Assessment (PRSA) for GAM
- Partnering with our compliance and legal organizations to ensure all new developments are acceptable within the legal and regulatory framework of Credit Bureau reporting and credit monitoring
- Governance on data accuracy by developing case reviews processes to analyze the cases and work with Third parties and C360 to identify the opportunities
- Analyze features/functionalities offered by cloud-based platforms internally and externally & define a charter for strengthening governance of external third-party data
- Create inhouse data products to drive transparency, rationalization & usage of third-party data in line with EDGs suite of data products
- Leads engagement for global regulatory exams, audit, reviews, loss events and compliance issues which impact Credit Bureau related processes across Amex
Minimum Qualifications
- 3 years of credit, operational risk, risk management and/or information management experience.
- The candidate should possess strong project management discipline, critical and strategic thinking, and strong communication skills; be analytically inclined and has high will to dive into both numeric and financial details.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics Computer Science or Economics) from a top tier institute
- Strong quantitative, analytical, project management and structured problem-solving skills with proficiency in SQL, Python, HIVE & EXCEL
- Understanding of Third-Party Data and Working knowledge of Credit Card business, Risk and Financial Management platforms is desired
- Understanding of Cornerstone, CDIT and Bureau related capabilities
- Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and on aggressive timelines
- Effective team player and be able to manage multiple projects
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong relationship management and negotiation skills
- Understanding of credit card business economics
- Demonstrated ability to drive innovation
- Regulatory/Compliance knowledge would be plus
