Department Profile:

The WM and U.S. Banks Financial Crimes Risk Team is embedded within the Firm’s business line. It is responsible for identifying, assessing, and escalating potential money laundering and reputational risk issues associated with higher risk client types. The WM and U.S. Banks Financial Crimes Risk Team is considered the first line of defense and supports the onboarding, enhanced due diligence, and negative news processes for Morgan Stanley.

The Internal Communications VP will:

  • Manage communications projects from beginning to end
  • Create a comprehensive and united communications strategy across the business
  • Partner with senior stakeholders
  • Write and distribute content and messaging (emails, talking points and briefing documents, intranet articles, etc.)
  • Learn about the function and the business to deepen connectivity and expand responsibilities
  • Identify and track key performance metrics to report on results
  • Help ensure effective communications as needed, in coordination with Corporate Communications and regional communicators

Required Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in internal communications Wealth Management
  • Demonstrated ability define and execute on a strategic plan
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or another related field

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Take initiative, analyze, summarize, and communicate effectively
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills; well-developed strategic thinking, attention to detail and tactical execution skills
  • Proactive by nature and comfortable working in a fast-paced setting with tight deadlines
  • Solid understanding of the financial services industry
  • Knowledge of corporate employee communications tactics and execution
  • Ability to effectively partner with direct management, team members and clients and to work well with all levels of employees
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize high-volume, high-priority initiatives
  • High level of independence, energy, integrity and eagerness to learn and contribute
  • Demonstrates respect for a diversity of opinions and styles and accepts accountability and responsibility
  • Expertise in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and general base familiarity

Additional Skills Desired:

  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) designation is a plus
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Microsoft Excel/PowerPoint/Word/Access)
  • Strong understanding of AML regulatory requirements and expectations
  • Strong time management and planning skills
  • Expertise in managing programs focused on ensuring quality within Financial Crimes Risk programs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Experience in supporting audit and regulatory inquiries and interactions with Board, senior management, and consultants

New York: Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $140,000 and $205,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
