Job Description: Senior Manager, Integrations – Finance and HCM

Position Overview

Autodesk is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a team of Backend Software Engineers who build APIs and integrations in AWS for SAP S4 HANA, our ERP application. This position falls under the Finance domain within the Enterprise Systems and Applications Engineering organization. The candidate will work with Finance Engineering teams to build integrations with SAP S4 HANA. As a Senior Engineering Manager, you are primarily responsible for leading the team through the design, development, and maintenance phases and delivering scalable, secure, and highly available APIs for Finance modules in SAP S4 HANA, such as Order to Cash and Financial Accounting, aligning solutions with business goals and requirements.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be expected to:
Lead the Finance Integrations Engineering Team: Focused on building integrations and APIs with SAP S4 HANA and eCommerce applications.
Oversee Integration Deliverables: Ensure they meet scope, pass quality checks, and are delivered as per commitments.
Coordinate Planning and Problem-Solving: Implement integration requirements effectively.
Manage, Coach, and Mentor: Support a team of API developers and integration engineers.
Participate in Project Review Meetings: Provide weekly updates and maintain status tracking.
Represent the Finance Domain: Engage in Product Delivery excellence, Trust Compliance, and Security review meetings.
Testing and Debugging: Conduct thorough testing of backend components and APIs; implement automated testing processes for code quality.
Performance Optimization: Monitor backend performance and implement optimizations to enhance system scalability and resource utilization.
Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices to safeguard systems and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
Code Reviews and Collaboration: Maintain code quality and ensure seamless integration between backend and frontend components.
Continuous Integration and Deployment: Automate build, deployment, and scaling processes using CI/CD pipelines.
Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation for API designs and backend infrastructure.
Collaborate with Architects and Technical Leads: Drive towards a common vision and foster a culture of continuous improvement in integration techniques.
Enforce Best Practices: Uphold coding standards in deliverables.
Work in an Agile Environment: Adapt to fast-paced development practices and adhere to Autodesk's quality standards.
Advocate for Software Engineering Principles: Be a passionate and empathetic leader in architecture and design.
Minimum Qualifications
Educational Background
Degree: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Technical Skills
API Development: Proficiency in designing and building RESTful APIs using Node.js; experience with microservices frameworks.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Node.js.
In-depth knowledge of cloud architecture, serverless computing, and microservices.
Understanding of security principles, authentication, and authorization mechanisms in AWS.
AWS Proficiency: Deep understanding of AWS services relevant to API development and integrations, including:
- API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB/RDS, S3, IAM.
Microservices Architecture: Experience in building and deploying microservices on AWS.
Containerization: Familiarity with Docker and container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, Amazon ECS/EKS) is a plus.
Database Knowledge: Proficiency in both SQL and NoSQL database systems and their use cases.
Version Control: Experience with Git.
Management Skills
Leadership: Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams, fostering inclusion and collaboration.
Agile Methodologies: Practical experience with Scrum and Kanban.
Performance Management: Experience in setting goals, hiring, conducting reviews, and supporting professional growth.
Communication Skills
Stakeholder Engagement: Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Documentation Skills: Ability to guide the team in creating clear documentation for API processes.
Problem-Solving Skills
Analytical Mindset: Strong skills to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
Experience
Industry Background
Relevant experience in the Finance and Accounting domain and eCommerce is preferred.
Years of Experience:
17+ years of overall experience in API design, development, and delivery (RESTful APIs, SOAP, etc.).
10+ years in a managerial role focused on AWS and API development.
8+ years of hands-on experience building AWS services and infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building APIs that integrate with SAP S4 HANA is a plus.
Familiarity with the SAP ERP Suite for the Financial domain and SAP HANA Database.
Publications in relevant AI conferences or journals.
Experience in natural language processing (NLP) and computer vision.
Knowledge of big data technologies and frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
Certifications (Optional but Beneficial)
- Certifications in any middleware technology such as TIBCO, MuleSoft, AWS, etc., are a plus.
- AWS Certifications: Relevant AWS certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, are desired.
