DESCRIPTION

The Health and Safety Assistant – Level I supports key Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) activities by providing data entry, documentation support, regulatory reporting, and coordination for training and compliance programs. The role ensures accurate maintenance of HSE systems, supports site-level safety initiatives, and contributes to the development of an interdependent safety culture across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain local health and safety policies, standard operating procedures, and regulatory compliance documentation.
  • Provide data entry support for HSE systems, ensuring accuracy in collection, reporting, and recordkeeping.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to corporate data protection and record retention guidelines.
  • Support the reporting of work-related injuries, illnesses, and incidents through the enterprise incident management system.
  • Track and report required monthly HSE metrics.
  • Coordinate, organize, and assist in the delivery of occupational health and safety training programs.
  • Maintain training content, documentation, and training records, and support trend analysis.
  • Facilitate health, safety, environmental, and wellness initiatives, inspections, and audit programs.
  • Stop work and report any major injury hazards immediately in alignment with HSE expectations.
  • Support energy, water, and waste reduction projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with teams to improve quality, safety, processes, and material flow.
  • Follow all applicable standard work, process documentation, and quality procedures.
  • Identify and escalate issues to minimize cost or quality impacts; perform quality checks when required.
  • Participate in employee engagement initiatives that promote an interdependent safety culture.
  • Complete required training and personal development as per business requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or certificate of secondary education (or equivalent experience meeting regulatory requirements).
  • Diploma is required, with 5–7 years of relevant experience .
  • A post-diploma or certification in Environment from a reputed institution is an added advantage.
  • A two-year University degree in Industrial Safety or a related field is preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in ETP/STP operations and environmental compliance within an industrial setting.
  • Experience with HSE documentation, reporting, training coordination, or safety processes is beneficial.
