DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented PLM Solutions Engineer to join our team specializing in Systems/Information Technology for our Corporate organization in Columbus, IN .
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Drive alignment between business priorities and product strategy by collaborating with leadership and representing the voice of the customer using Lean‑Agile principles.
- Identify and prioritize user personas and their core problems to guide the creation of solutions that deliver meaningful customer and business value.
- Strengthen product direction by conducting customer interviews, capturing market trends, and translating insights into compelling problem statements and user stories.
- Lead backlog ownership by defining the Product Goal, maintaining a transparent and well‑prioritized product backlog, and ensuring readiness for Program Increment (PI) planning.
- Accelerate delivery quality by applying Behavior Driven Development (BDD), establishing clear acceptance criteria, and validating completed stories meet Definition of Done (DoD).
- Partner with System and Solution Architects to sequence enabler work and ensure technology decisions support long‑term product capabilities and scalability.
- Drive iteration success by shaping iteration goals, refining user stories just in time, and guiding teams as the primary source for story details and prioritization.
- Build influence across teams and the matrix organization by effectively communicating ideas, fostering alignment, and maintaining strong business relationships to maximize value delivery.

- Planning and Managing Ceremonies - Plans, schedules, and leads ceremonies that create a cadence for the team to maximize productivity, promote collaboration, maintain transparency, and inspect and adapt so the team can continuously learn and improve.
- Program Backlog Management and User Story Elaboration - Identifies, refines, prioritizes, and sequences backlog items using Weighted Shortest Job First (WSJF) to ensure the economic success of the solution; determines the details of a product feature to ensure that any unanswered questions about it are answered so that development can proceed.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:
- College, university, or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related subject, or relevant equivalent experience required.
- SAFe® Product Owner/Agile Product Manager (POPM) certification preferred.
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
- Business knowledge with knowledge and practical experience of the Lean methodology, principles and tools are preferred.
- Experience working in an Agile environment is preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
Responsible for working with Agile Product Managers and other stakeholders to define stories and prioritize the Team Backlog in support of the product roadmap; Responsible for supporting the organization's mission, operations, structure, and goals; for streamlining the execution of program priorities in support of business agility and product market trends; Maintains the conceptual and technical integrity of the Features or components for the team, and maximizes the value of the product resulting from the work in the product/agile team.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Identifies short- and long-term business priorities using Lean Agile thinking and representing the voice of the customer.
- Defines personas, user needs, and market problems through customer interviews and trend analysis.
- Practices Lean/Agile leadership and supports vision, Program Backlog refinement, and PI planning activities.
- Owns and manages the Product and Team Backlogs, ensuring clarity, prioritization, and transparency.
- Leads Feature planning and capability prioritization; applies BDD to guide development and reduce rework.
- Lead business and functional resources in the design of efficient enterprise business processes that leverage technical solutions being delivered or developed.
- Facilitate working sessions with a diverse group of individuals for different project needs e.g. to gather requirements or to demonstrate software function.
- Provide PLM application knowledge to various groups within Cummins so that PLM technologies and applications can be evaluated and placed appropriately on the Cummins PLM roadmap.
- Work with the PLM Support team so the there is a common picture of the overall PLM solution direction
- Provide guidance on high-level solution direction within PLM
- Design / Develop Process Solutions for business to meet the strategy objectives
- Perform cost-benefit analysis and suggest and develop metrics to track progress to meet objectives
- Participate in the creation of standards, processes, procedures, and guidelines for the IT team as well providing guidance and input to training material development.
- Analyze and revise existing systems and documentation to identify remediation or improvements in the application solution.

- Knowledge of PLM Windchill and engineering processes, including impact of configurations on performance and user experience
- Ability to direct, mentor, develop functional teams on Windchill and engineering processes
- Experience of 5 yrs on PLM products that includes at least 3 yrs of PTC Windchill for CAD, BOM and change management.
- 6 or more years of system analysis and design experience is required. This should include the creation of functional requirements for enterprise-level business application solutions involving multi-tier client/server, database, or web-based applications.
- Experience with a full software development lifecycle process that included formal project management.
- Functional domain knowledge should include PLM software applications, technical domain knowledge is a plus. Knowledge of Windchill 12 is preferred.
- Experience of BOM Views, MPMLink, Variant Configuration, Options and Variants, is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with other PTC applications, Creo Parametric, Creo View, Integrity and Thingworx would be useful.
- Experience extending the digital thread downstream from PLM would be an advantage.
