Job Summary:
Assess and apply new solution designs against defined architecture strategies, principles, policies and standards in alignment with the enterprise architecture strategies. Where current strategies and principles do not meet needs, drive changes back to Principal Solution Architect. Defines application and solution designs for specific systems in coordination with project or product teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Defines component breakdown of the system; performs functional allocation to the components; establishes interfaces between systems and among system components. Effectively applies enterprise architecture standards including styles, stacks, and patterns. Develops multiple design solutions; performs cost/benefit analysis; recommends optimized solution designs to meet business and analytic technical requirements. Defines reference architectures aligned with architecture standards and building blocks to be applied globally. Drives changes in technical architecture into solution designs. Builds strong relationships with customers and peers to effectively promote solution development using standard technologies. Maintains awareness of emerging technologies, software trends, and tools. Facilitates and supports execution of pilot and or proof of concept activities to validate technology capabilities. Analyzes infrastructure capacity and provides recommendations for emerging needs. Maintain strong relationships to deliver business value using relevant Business Relationship Management practices.

Architecture System Design - Defines and develops architecture deliverables, artifacts and building blocks (e.g. conceptual models, logical models, physical network designs, etc.) by applying architecture principles through the use of an architecture development framework and methodology that enables the organization to transform its systems in a controlled manner in response to business needs.
Solution Design - Creates and defines the solution design complete with instrumentation and measurement, using industry standards and tools, version control, and build and test automation to synthesize diagrams, models and documentation in order to build a solution that meets buildability, business, technical, security, governance and compliance requirements.
Solution Functional Fit Analysis - Composes and decomposes a system into its component parts using procedures, tools and work aides for the purpose of studying how well the component parts were designed, purchased and configured to interact holistically to meet business, technical, security, governance and compliance requirements.
System Solution Architecture - Creates solution designs and patterns using the Cummins Technical Reference Model (CTRM), CLEAN standards, and existing reference patterns to maintain alignment to Cummins standards.
Project Issue and Risk Management - Manages the process to identify, assess and prioritize issues and risks using recommended tools and disciplines. Drives actions to minimize, monitor and control risks and issues and to maximize the most positive outcomes possible.
Values differences - Recognizing the value that different perspectives and cultures bring to an organization.
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
College, university, or equivalent degree in relevant technical discipline, or relevant equivalent experience required. This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Intermediate experience (2-4 years) in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of architecture and design for cloud-based platforms. Knowledge of the latest trends in emerging technologies is highly preferred and includes:
- Analyzing complex business systems, industry requirements, and governance and creating solution designs from them
- Proven architecture and design experience for cloud-based platforms and enterprise applications
Intermediate experiences in the following are preferred:
- Experience with architecting and integrating enterprise systems and data
- Familiar with IoT technology
- Knowledge of Agile software development and DevSecOps

We are seeking a Senior AI Solution & Product Architect to define AI product direction, architect end-to-end AI solutions, and shape the user experience of next-generation engineering and industrial AI tools.
Role Overview
This senior-level hybrid role combines AI solution architecture, product design, workflow definition, and user experience leadership .
It requires strong technical understanding of AI/LLM capabilities — this is not a traditional product manager position.
Your work will define how AI tools look, feel, and operate across Cummins’ global engineering, manufacturing, and service ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
1. AI Solution Architecture
- Translate raw business problems into structured AI workflows and solution blueprints.
- Architect LLM-based solutions incorporating retrieval, agents, domain knowledge, and enterprise systems.
- Define solution strategies for engineering design, diagnostics, service workflows, and industrial operations.
2. Product Design & User Experience Leadership
- Define product vision, capability roadmap, user journeys, and UX frameworks for AI-native tools.
- Collaborate with designers and engineers to build prototypes and functional products.
- Conduct user insights research with engineers, technicians, manufacturing operators, and service teams.
3. Cross-System Integration & Platform Alignment
- Define product and solution interfaces for seamless integration with AI platforms, data systems, and enterprise applications.
- Translate product needs into platform requirements (data flows, APIs, vector stores, LLMOps).
4. End-to-End Delivery Leadership
- Lead the full delivery cycle from requirements → solution design → PoC → production.
- Communicate product and solution decisions clearly to global stakeholders.
- Ensure scalability, usability, and measurable business impact.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, AI, HCI, or related fields; OR equivalent industry experience.
- Strong understanding of AI/LLM technologies and ability to architect AI-enabled solutions.
- Proven experience delivering AI-powered products into production environments.
- Demonstrated ability to design user journeys, product workflows, and functional UX.
- Experience with engineering/industrial tools and workflows (e.g., CAD/CAE/PLM) is a strong advantage.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience working with global, cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in cloud/AI companies, enterprise software, or AI product teams.
- Experience designing AI copilots, agent-driven workflows, or knowledge-based systems.
- Understanding of manufacturing, service diagnostics, or engineering R&D workflows.
