As the Senior Manager, R&D Future Technologies you will lead the technology strategy that shapes the next generation of Peripheral Vascular surgical solutions. This is a hybrid or onsite role based in Irvine, CA; candidates must live within commuting distance and be onsite 4-5 days per week.
What You Will DoLead and develop high-performing R&D team by executing a robust talent strategy focused on attraction, retention, and engagement.
Anticipate and assess emerging peripheral surgical technology trends by partnering with marketing and physicians to shape portfolio direction and maintain competitive advantage.
Spearhead the adoption of digital engineering tools, advanced analytics, and AI/ML capabilities to accelerate R&D cycles and strengthen data driven decision making.
Drive cross-functional collaboration to solve complex technical and business challenges using structured problem-solving methodologies.
Manage high-complexity projects, including planning, budgeting, and staffing, to meet business goals and timelines.
Translate department goals into actionable performance objectives for direct reports.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements by overseeing design control processes and reviewing technical documentation.
Lead Voice of Customer activities and champion customer-centric design practices.
Develop and manage cost center budgets and contribute to business unit-level financial planning.
Partner with internal and external stakeholders to assess emerging technologies and shape technical strategies.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in R&D or engineering roles.
At least 4 years of direct people management experience.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver projects on time and within budget.
Experience managing budgets and financial planning at the project or department level.
Experience guiding a team through a full medical device or surgical technology product development cycle, including scaleup and launch related activities.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated success in coaching and developing team members through performance management strategies.
Strong understanding of the healthcare market and clinical needs.
Experience leading Voice of Customer initiatives and applying customer insights to product development.
Ability to communicate complex technical and strategic concepts to diverse audiences.
Experience with regulatory frameworks for medical devices (e.g., FDA, EU MDR, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 62304).
$155,900 - $259,800 salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
