Data Science - SME/Product Owner

Within our dedicated Data Science organization, a subgroup of the Audit Transformation group, we continue that journey enabling the next generation of AI-enabled solutions that usher in a future that completely transforms the way our practitioners perform their audit work, and the insights we can provide to our clients.

The Work You'll Do

The Data Science group consists of a blend of auditors and data scientists working hand-in-hand to capitalize on our world-class data assets and ideate, design, develop, deploy, and manage AI and ML solutions that can be integrated into our existing Omnia ecosystem to increase the quality of our audits, and automate mechanical processes. You will be joining a growing team of talented professionals dedicated to realizing the vision of an AI-enabled audit.

As a Data Science Subject Matter Expert/Product Owner in the Data Science group, you will serve as a subject matter expert leading the auditing and process-specific components of our Data Science workstreams and AI and ML solutions, and as the product owner leading the day-to-day management of the workstream itself.

Responsibilities may include:
  • Define the business problem and work with data scientists to effectively translate it into a data science problem
  • Co-lead the planning, development, documentation, and day-to-day management of an AI solution project plan that effectively prioritizes goals and objectives
  • Work hand-in-hand with data scientists to ensure the inputs and outputs of the AI solution suit the intended user experience and audit workflow, and address the root cause of the defined business problem
  • Manage developers and guide data scientists in designing the user experience of the AI-enhanced audit workflow
  • Tag datasets or supervise and review the tagging of datasets in order to produce high-quality training data for supervised ML models
  • Present progress updates and lead technical demonstrations to Audit Transformation and senior firm leaders
  • Design and lead pilot programs that solicit feedback from audit engagement teams
  • Present to the broader Audit practice regarding artificial intelligence and the solutions we build
  • Manage the production and publishing of internal and external eminence regarding artificial intelligence in the Deloitte Audit
  • Apply a bold, creative mindset to explore and implement innovative technologies and techniques that challenge conventional thinking
  • Demonstrate a passion for technology and process transformation by actively seeking out and recommending opportunities to modernize and optimize business operations
  • Leverage strong project management skills to plan, coordinate, and execute projects efficiently, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes
  • Utilize your deep understanding of technical auditing requirements to assess, design, and enhance audit processes, ensuring compliance and effectiveness

Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, or other related degrees
  • Experienced Manager with 5+ years of experience with Deloitte
  • Strong understanding of technical auditing requirements
  • Ability to visualize and create user experience process flowcharts and data flowcharts (Visio, etc.)
  • Experience producing and presenting high-quality PowerPoint slide materials
  • You should reside within a commutable distance of your assigned office with the ability to commute daily, if required
  • You should expect to co-locate with team members or other colleagues in a Deloitte office, at a client site and/or virtually, based on specific team and business expectations
  • Ability to travel up to 10%, on average, based on the type of work you perform and the clients served
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available

Preferred:
  • Master's degree in Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, or other related degrees
  • Previous experience in a local or Global technical accounting or auditing role, or a Global Audit Transformation role
  • Demonstrable history of designing custom analytics, analyses, VBA scripts, or other automation routines within your audits
  • Experience with coding and advanced quantitative modeling - Python preferred, though other languages (R, SAS, etc.) also useful
  • Experience with software and/or web development (HTML, JavaScript, JSON)
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence and machine learning concepts
  • Real-world experience with Omnia and Omnia Data
  • Experience with the Agile Methodology or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $107,700 - $221,200.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
