Company Profile:

Morgan Stanley is a leading global financial services firm providing a wide range of investment banking, securities, investment, and wealth management services. The Firm's employees serve clients worldwide, including corporations, governments, and individuals from more than 1,200 offices in 43 countries.

In the Research division, we offer timely, integrated analysis of companies, sectors, markets, and economies, helping clients with their most critical decisions.

What you’ll do in the role:

Morgan Stanley is seeking an Associate, Research in New York, New York to support the Research COO team through rigorous analysis and proactive partnership with senior and cross-functional stakeholders.

The Associate will own a significant portion of Research reporting for analysts, management, and partner teams. You will design, enhance, and run performance and business-outcome metrics, ensuring reporting is accurate, scalable, and decision-useful. The role requires a highly data-driven approach, translating complex datasets into clear insights, narratives, and recommendations that influence business decisions.

You will work closely with Research leadership, Sales, Technology, and other internal partners to apply analytics in support of client engagement strategies, business planning, and strategic decision-making. Responsibilities include consolidating data from multiple sources, validating results, synthesizing findings into executive-ready materials, and guiding stakeholders on how to use data effectively in practice.

This role will also gather requirements and manage delivery for management data platforms, automate and streamline reporting and data workflows, and support the execution of strategic initiatives led by the Research COO team. Success in this role requires strong ownership, the ability to move quickly from problem to solution, and confident communication across technical and non-technical audiences. The Associate will collaborate with stakeholders in the U.S. and overseas, balancing independent ownership with a highly collaborative working style. Telecommuting permitted up to 1 day per week.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • 2–3 years of relevant experience in data analytics, data management, COO, consulting, strategy, or related analytical roles
  • Strong reporting and analytics ownership: ability to independently drive recurring and ad hoc reporting deliverables end-to-end
  • Deep data expertise: advanced ability to clean, structure, validate, and analyze datasets to produce reliable metrics and insights
  • Demonstrated ability to identify trends, answer business questions with analytical rigor, and translate analysis into actionable recommendations for a range of stakeholders (including senior leadership)
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, drive timelines, and coordinate across teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of influencing cross-functional partners and delivering clear, concise narratives
  • Experience with data and reporting tools, including: Excel, Python, SQL, and PowerBI
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, STEM, Computer Science, or a related field
