The Associate Director of International External Expert (EE) Engagement & Peer to Peer (P2P) leads the strategy and implementation of the EE and P2P Dermatology portfolio plans. This person is a key member of the Dermatology team who collaboratively provides guidance to the brands, cross-functional teams, areas, affiliates, external experts and agency partners. This role requires a marketing leader with proven expertise in gathering, translating and applying external expert insights to shape development strategies and key initiatives that drive brand success.
Major Responsibilities:
- Primary point of contact for AbbVie Dermatology Marketing with top international external experts that identifies, builds and maintains strong relationships to strengthen brand equity and establish AbbVie as the partner of choice
- Generates, interprets and communicates insights that inform commercial strategy and tactical deliverables through oversight and execution of external consultancy activities and advisory boards
- Leads and maintains the development of a comprehensive P2P content ecosystem that supports strategy and aligns content/messaging across the omnichannel for effective affiliate localization
- Trains and equips external speakers to deliver compelling peer-to-peer education that clearly and effectively convey our clinical data
- Provides direction to affiliates on optimal execution of best-in-class P2P meetings and events
- Works closely with Area and Affiliates to ensure the P2P platform addresses business needs
Management Responsibilities:
- Effectively manage external expert communications—both in writing and verbally—while confidently representing and safeguarding AbbVie’s interests during all interactions or collaborations with external stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and consistently deliver high-quality work on time in a fast-paced environment
- Manage all external expert engagements in line with AbbVie processes and procedures, ensuring global and affiliate compliance needs are met
- Manage phased budget as it relates to assigned projects, tracked with close collaboration with Finance partner and Brand Team Leads
- Develop strong working relationships with AbbVie Central Consultancy Group (CCG) and Business Services Group (BSG) to ensure timely contracting of external experts and full BSG service provision for congresses, external training and education events
- Effectively manage agency partners to ensure excellent delivery of tactical education programs in line with required timelines and AbbVie review processes
- Manage Veeva Vault process for commercial training and education content review
- Industry Experience: Previous international area and/or affiliate exposure is ideal
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional and cross-geographical teams without direct authority
- Strategic Thinking: Strong organizational skills, with the ability to create well-structured execution plans
- Communication & Networking: Strong written, oral, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Experience working with and managing multiple internal partners and external agencies
- Collaboration: Strong focus on teamwork, relationship-building, and influencing a broad range of stakeholders; acting courageously and constructively, with agility and a high degree of accountability
- Project Management: Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple projects effectively
- Process Development: Ability to develop practical and efficient structures and processes
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills and financial acumen with a robust understanding of numbers/data.
- Initiative & Innovation: Self-driven with innovative thinking capabilities.
- Problem Solving: Quick to learn and adept at problem-solving and conflict resolution.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office for creating executive-ready communications and strategic documents.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Science or equivalent; MBA preferred
Required Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in marketing
