We're seeking someone to join our team as an Associate in Legal and Compliance Division This role requires an ability to interpret trends in the data with an eye towards learning and understanding what is going on in the business and inform business partners as to possible issues that are arising through the complaints analysis. Additionally, the candidate will review data monthly to ensure data quality and work with stakeholders to have the data updated.


In the Legal & Compliance division, we assist the Firm in achieving its business objectives by facilitating and overseeing the Firm's management of legal, regulatory and franchise risk. This is an Associate level position within the Bank Compliance Department which is responsible for ensuring that business teams are informed about risks and required controls relating to data location, localization, transfer and use, to assist with compliance with applicable policies, regulations, and business requirements. This team is is charged with oversight and coordination of the Compliance program for the U.S. Banks (Morgan Stanley Bank, N.A. and Morgan Stanley Private Bank, National Association). The candidate will join the department as a member of the Bank Complaints Team and will produce complaint governance reporting and be responsible for weekly pipeline management reporting, including the preparation and enhancement of complaint reporting decks for Bank management and regulators.

What you'll do in the role:

  • Create weekly, monthly and quarterly slides/decks for Bank management & regulatory reporting

  • Analyze and present complaint trends to the Bank Complaint Reporting & Analytics VP

  • Develop and deliver ad-hoc and recurring (weekly, monthly, quarterly) reports to identify key risks, support metrics reporting, and manage workloads. This includes pipeline management reporting to track active complaint investigations, month-to-date complaint submission volumes, and completed intake processing.

  • Perform a monthly quality assurance (QA) review looking for data entry accuracy and work with both the intake team and/or responsible professionals when data integrity issues are identified to correct and update the data in the UI

  • Optimize data transformation processes, streamline report generation, and enhance data visualizations using tools such as Dataiku and Tableau. Advanced Excel analytics-including PivotTables, VLOOKUPs, and formula-based analysis-will be heavily utilized to extract insights from complaint data, support quality assurance, and drive process improvements. Familiarity with VBA is a plus

  • Support ad-hoc and new activities and projects to develop solutions and resolve technical issues with the complaint management ecosystem (i.e. Customer Complaint Management System, TeamConnect, Business Objects, etc.) by working with the systems analyst and technology teams

  • Consistently maintain and update current processes, organizational policies, procedures and key risk indicator metrics to improve efficiencies within the team

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of three years relevant industry experience; consumer banking product knowledge preferred

  • At least 2 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role

  • Excellent oral, written and analytical skills

  • Proficiency in technical tools including Tableau, Dataiku, Business Objects, SQL, and advanced Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUPs); familiarity with VBA is helpful

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Procedure documentation and maintenance of documentation

  • Ability to manage high volumes, with solid prioritization and time management capabilities

  • Work independently and adapt quickly to timeline and project pivots
