Job Description:
As part of the Global Financial Initiatives and Integrity organization within Corporate Controllership, this role will represent Finance in various technology development for Line of Business initiatives. This position will act as Project Manager and will be responsible to provide analysis and inputs on project initiatives, define Finance requirements, develop user stories, and advise system controls to be in place to ensure financial integrity of accounting and reporting. The role will entail developing, reviewing test cases, and providing post warranty support for changes deployed as per Finance needs. The position will also support the organization on consultancy requests, process improvement and other initiatives as required from time to time.
Job Responsibilities:
- Act as Project manager in new business initiatives requiring technology development with financial accounting, reporting, or control impacts
- Define end-to-end balancing and controls within financial processes
- Create accounting requirements in consultation with Segment and Market Controllership
- Perform user acceptance testing of finance requirements
- Collaborate with process owners and provide post implementation support
- Create project documentation including process, system, and accounting flows, FRG etc.
- Assist the organization on consultancy requests
- Assist on design changes/updates to SOR reporting
- Assist the organization in ensuring compliance to AEMP 16
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- One to three years’ post graduate experience in a finance or technology related role
- Preferably has some exposure in defining system development requirements across business and technologies
- Preferably has some exposure in defining and validating system development and financial test cases
- Knowledge of American Express processes and systems required is a must
- Written and verbal communications with ability to communicate highly complex concepts and processes in simple terms and pragmatically
- Must be a self-starter, motivated with the ability to work in dynamic environment, able to adapt to unforeseen obstacles
- Recognizes the importance of teamwork to achieve objectives; brings in ideas, information, suggestions, and expertise from others outside the immediate team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Visio) is a requirement to aid on written and visual communication as well as analytics
- Basic understanding of US GAAP requirements and financial control principles and practices
- Basic understanding of project management and system implementation background is preferred
- A desire to work in an environment of significant change with the ability to collaborate and influence without authority
- Exemplifies a growth mindset where continual knowledge and learning are expected, challenges are embraced, and setbacks are opportunities to learn – forward looking and thinking
- Possesses strategic thinking and results driven traits are a plus
- Typically holds a bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or has equivalent work experience
