Department Profile
The Fixed Income Division is comprised of Interest Rate and Currency Products, Credit Products and Distribution. Professionals in the Division assess and actively manage risk, trade securities, and structure as well as execute innovative transactions in the fast-paced and constantly changing global markets. Morgan Stanley aligns its municipal investment banking, underwriting, sales, trading, lending, and M&A advisory in one integrated organizational group under the umbrella of the Municipal Securities Division.
Background on the Team
Within Municipal Securities, the Municipal Syndicate facilitates public market underwritings for public sector entities and not-for-profit institutions in the United States. The Client Financing team offers structured financing solutions to investors that purchase the debt in these public market underwritings.
Primary Responsibilities
Maintain and update databases of historical transaction information
Monitor primary market conditions and survey external public transactions to contribute to internal and external market commentary
Estimate, explain, and reconcile daily P&L in coordination with Finance
Coordinate with Operations to ensure correct trade bookings
Assist with overseeing and actioning trade lifecycle events
Manage fee invoice payments
Work with the team to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal risk protocols
Skills desired
Undergraduate degree, preferably in a quantitative field such as finance, business operations, computer science, or engineering
Background in fixed income securities, fixed income trading, and/or finance operations
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Highly organized, detail-oriented and thorough
Ability to multi-task
Ability to quickly learn and operate new internal systems
Ability to adapt and demonstrate flexibility with multiple priorities working in a team setting.
Strong problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and ability to provide information in comprehensible formats
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to think strategically and demonstrate leadership capabilities.
Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
