We are looking for a talented Manufacturing Engineer to join our team specializing in manufacturing for our Cummins’ business in Mineral Point, WI.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Support safe and compliant manufacturing processes by assisting with project execution that integrates safety requirements, product specifications, and business objectives from design through implementation.
Improve manufacturing equipment and processes by applying core manufacturing principles to enhance reliability, throughput, ergonomics, and cost performance.
Contribute to process standardization through the development and documentation of manufacturing standards, work instructions, and best practices.
Apply continuous improvement tools (e.g., Lean, Kaizen, standard work, waste reduction) to identify inefficiencies and drive measurable improvements in quality and productivity.
Collaborate with cross-functional partners (Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain) and external resources to execute assigned project tasks effectively.
Support project deliverables by analyzing data, troubleshooting issues, and assisting with root-cause investigations to ensure sustainable solutions.
Strengthen manufacturing readiness by helping validate processes, equipment capability, and methods to meet production and customer requirements.
Build technical capability within Cummins manufacturing by learning and applying Cummins-specific manufacturing principles, systems, and practices to real-world production challenges.
RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Collaborative, clear communicator: Build strong partnerships across Engineering, Operations, Quality, Maintenance, EHS, and suppliers; tailor communications to diverse audiences to align on requirements, timing, and change impacts while valuing diverse perspectives.
Safety-first, human-centered design: Champion Health & Safety fundamentals; apply ergonomics and workstation design standards to reduce risk and improve flow, ensuring safe, healthy, and efficient operator environments.
Strong manufacturing engineering toolkit: Interpret product and equipment drawings; design/validate tools and fixtures; document standard processes; and execute equipment/capital procurement that meets specs, cost, quality, and delivery needs.
Data-driven improvement & problem solving: Use Manufacturing Analysis–Led Design (digital modeling/simulation), structured problem-solving, and continuous improvement methods to optimize processes, prevent recurrence of issues, and sustain gains.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
- College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. Basic level of relevant work experience required.
Additional Details:
- Drive optimization of OEE across assigned manufacturing departments.
- Actively support and participate in IATF audit readiness and on‑site audit activities.
- Lead and execute integration of new or updated products into production processes.
- Enhance and expand manufacturing capability through continuous improvement initiatives and process upgrades.
