Job Details

At Stryker, every role is vital to our mission to make healthcare better. Our collaborative environment champions growth and opportunity, ensuring that every member of our team is equipped to contribute to our collective goal.

Join us and be at the forefront of making healthcare better for everyone, everywhere.

In your internship ata globally leading medical technology company, you’ll be right in the middle of the action: as a member of the R&D Simulation Team,  you will primarily learn and contribute to the use of numerical simulations and the corresponding validations through physical testing and literature data for the development of a new orthopeadic implant.

Our offer for you

  • You will define physiological loads and failure modes and learn about different treatment approaches through training, literature review and internal databases.

  • You will use numerical simulations such as finite element analysis, musculoskeletal modelling and CAD software to evaluate new design concepts and physical test setups for a new orthopaedic implant.

  • You will work with your physical testing colleagues to adapt the physical test to meet your simulation validation requirements.

  • Understand the reporting of simulation results for medical devices and the relevant standards (ASME V&V40) and contribute to the proper documentation of your simulation work.

  • You will collaborate with and present your work to various stakeholders and become familiar with the new product development process for orthopaedic medical devices.

What makes you stand out

  • You are enrolled in an engineering degree programme (e.g. mechanical engineering or similar), preferably at a master's level.

  • You have a basic knowledge and interest in numerical simulations (finite element methods and musculoskeletal modelling) and have gained initial experience with the corresponding software tools (e.g. Ansys, Abaqus, Anybody, etc.) as well as with CAD (e.g. Creo, SolidWorks, etc.).

  • Your analytical skills and your solution-oriented and scientifically precise working style make you a valuable team member.

  • You are proficient in MS Office applications and have a very good command of English and ideally a good command of German.

Duration of your internship: 6 months (full-time)

Type of internship: We offer voluntary internships alongside your studies, compulsory internships/practical semesters, and a combination of both

When you start with us: September or October 2026

Where you will work: Schönkirchen near Kiel, Germany

What you can expect: Fair pay, holiday entitlement, exciting training and personal mentoring, and flexible working hours.

Diversity is important to us. We welcome applications from people regardless of their ethnic, national or social origin, gender, disability, age or sexual identity.

We’re excited to receive your application! Please include all relevant documents (cover letter, CV, and transcript of records) and upload them directly under the “CV” section of the application form.

If your application is successful, we will first conduct a short telephone interview with our University Talent Acquisition Team. If everything fits, this will be followed by a one-hour video interview with the department. We will then get back to you with final feedback.

Pay rate will not be below any applicable local minimum wage rates.
