Introduction to team:

Our Technology Team partners with teams across Expedia Group to create innovative products, services, and tools to deliver high-quality experiences for travelers, partners, and our employees. A singular technology platform powered by data and machine learning provides secure, differentiated, and personalized experiences that drive loyalty and traveler satisfaction.

The Packages Shopping Tech team which sits within our Technology division and focuses on building and optimizing the end-to-end shopping experience for travelers who are searching for and booking multi-item trips, with a particular emphasis on dynamic and pre-bundled packages across flights, lodging, and other trip components.

In this role, you will elevate our native app experience for package shoppers by designing and delivering high-performing, user-centric mobile features that make it simpler and faster for travelers to discover, compare, and book the right package for their trip.

In this role, you will:

  • Design, build, and maintain high-quality mobile applications, ensuring robust system design, API integration, and data modeling that deliver reliable customer experiences across platforms.

  • Lead implementation of complex mobile features from technical design through deployment, applying strong knowledge of mobile architectures, patterns, and performance optimization.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate product requirements into scalable technical solutions, driving clarity in low-level design, API contracts, and data flows.

  • Ensure mobile applications meet security, reliability, and operational standards, including monitoring, alerting, and incident resolution for owned services and components.

  • Safely integrate and operate AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve outcomes, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products in mobile contexts.

  • Provide technical mentorship within the team, promoting engineering best practices in code quality, testing, CI/CD, and mobile-specific performance and reliability.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven professional experience as a mobile engineer building and shipping production iOS or Android applications at scale.
  • Demonstrated ownership of mobile features or services from design through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one native mobile technology stack (such as Swift/Objective‑C for iOS or Kotlin/Java for Android), including API consumption, offline handling, and robust error management.
  • Practical experience with mobile application architecture, low-level design, API design, and data modeling, as well as unit, integration, and UI testing practices.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and the ability to safely integrate AI/ML‑enabled capabilities into mobile experiences under guidance and established patterns.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Deep expertise in architecting modular, scalable mobile applications, including designing reusable components, maintaining shared libraries, and evolving app architecture over time.
  • Experience optimizing mobile apps for performance, startup time, memory usage, and battery consumption using profiling, analytics, and observability tools in production environments.
  • Track record of driving technical initiatives for mobile platforms, such as platform migrations, framework upgrades, or adoption of new patterns that improve developer productivity and app quality.
  • Experience designing and integrating sophisticated APIs and data models between mobile clients and backend services, including collaboration on contracts, versioning strategies, and resilience patterns.
  • Experience experimenting with and safely operating AI/ML‑enabled mobile features (for example, personalized content, recommendations, or intelligent assistance), including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.
The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $184,500.00 to $258,000.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $295,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
