Firm Risk Management
Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, liquidity, operational, model, and other risks.
Background on the Position
This role will reside within Firm Risk Management's Model Risk Management team, which is responsible for the Firm's management of risks related to the implementation and use of models, covering all aspects of the Firm's businesses and implementing key regulatory requirements. This position requires strong technical, leadership, and organizational skills.
> Lead projects covering review of AIML Models covering the Firm's Enterprise areas including Fraud and Cyber
> Lead projects to develop tools/Models to enhance the usage of Generative AI and Machine Learning to increase efficiencies in testing, review process and documentation within Model Risk Management
> Provide independent review and validation compliant with Model Risk Management policies and procedures, regulatory guidance and industry leading practices, including evaluating conceptual soundness, quality of modeling methodology, model limitations, data quality, and on-going monitoring for the models under the coverage area
> Communicate model validation conclusions to relevant stakeholders and evaluate model remediation actions
> Write comprehensive validation documentation for models validated
> Represent Model Risk Management Market Risk team in interactions with regulatory agencies as required
> 7 or more years in model building or model review including significant experience in AIML, data science
> Masters or Doctorate degree in a technical area such as Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Computer Science, Math/Statistics, Computational Finance, Mathematical Finance, or related fields
> Familiarity with essential quantitative techniques used in Machine Learning and AI
> Quantitative programming skills (e.g. Python, R, etc)
> Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be comfortable leading meetings and making formal presentations
> Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycles and Agile approaches
> Strong written and verbal communication skills
> Desire to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment focusing on challenging tasks mixing fundamental, quantitative, and market-oriented knowledge and skills

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $190,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
This role is hybrid and currently requires in office attendance 3 days/week. The in office requirement is subject to change at any time.
